Nexus

Paige Lannon

Nexus,

Between you, me,

And my former self,

Cremated in an inferno.

Severed is the

Prophetic slipknot

That caressed my

Trembling throat.

The chiropteran wings,

Clipped by those

Who came before,

Reemerge from my spine.

Slicker than the swill

That once poisoned

The totality of

Our grim pedigree.

Mangling the rodents

That skulk in bygone years

With the succor of my keen,

Newly grown talons.

No longer am I

Governed by the

Choices of those

Residing in the ground.
