Letter from the Editors

Dear Avalon Readers,

Welcome to our Spring 2024 issue! We're proud to build upon the foundations of our past issues, as we continue to foster a space filled with boundless creativity for writers and artists. Our hope now and forever remains to offer our readers insight into those mysterious elements of life that seem to always lie just beyond our ken.

Above all else, this semester’s edition is marked by pieces that ask us to contemplate that which we can never fully understand. If you allow us to guide you into the speculative world of Avalon, you may discover a fresh interpretation of all that lies beyond the boundaries of creative expression. By reaching new literary heights, the submissions in this issue will take you through an unapologetic journey filled with rich color and raw emotion that defines the undefinable, quantifies the unquantifiable, and offers courage to the discouraged.

For the first time in Avalon’s history, we welcome students from schools beyond Shenandoah University to join us in this journey. We’re proud to announce that this semester we are featuring works from writers and artists from Virginia Tech, University of Mary Washington, University of Louisville, University of North Carolina Asheville, Oakland University, and Western Carolina University! Our opportunities for inclusion grow as our magazine grows, and we hope to publish works from an even greater number of colleges and universities next year!

Thank you for your continued or newfound support of our publication! We greatly appreciate your time and efforts in building Avalon with us. We look forward to seeing your submissions next semester, and we ask you to please help us spread the word to friends at other universities so we may continue promoting new voices and perspectives!
