Caroline Berry is a senior Theatre Design and Production major with an emphasis in Sound Design and Reinforcement at Shenandoah University. She is also pursuing a minor in Professional and Popular Writing. Working as an editor for Avalon has been a great joy in Caroline's life over the past couple of semesters!
Shriya Bharadwaz is a senior Musical Theatre major at Shenandoah University. She has had works published in past issues of Avalon. She enjoys writing poetry and prose.
Nicklas Bissey is a senior Acting major at Shenandoah University. His work has appeared in Avalon, onstage at the Ohrstrom-Bryant Theatre, and buried within the many confines of various notes app rants and journals scattered throughout his house. His inspiration comes equally from those who love him the most and those who don't even know his name.
Olivia (Livie) Decker is a freshman vocal performance major. She has a passion for visual art but particularly watercolor painting. She loves using art to express herself.
Audyn Deterding is a freshman Neuroscience major at Virginia Tech. Though he is not pursuing a career in the arts, he hopes to share his art with others and to connect with and support other artists.
Jenna Eckenrod is a senior at Shenandoah University, majoring in Dance BFA with a double minor in Professional & Technical Writing and English. Interested in the role writing plays in all parts of life, she enjoys intersecting her creative disciplines as often as possible.
Katelyn Garback is a senior English and Psychology double major with a Professional and Popular Writing minor. On campus, she serves many roles within the literary community, including as Avalon's managing editor and the Writers' Club president. Katelyn was also a coauthor for the English Department's dramaturgy project for Antigone and hopes to continue connecting with readers through her prose and poetry.
Jonathan Daniel Gardner was born and raised in The South, but can only manage a neutral American accent. He completed an undergraduate degree at The New School in creative writing and his work has appeared in Change Seven Magazine. He lives and writes in Brooklyn now, but still misses Virginia sometimes.
Syd Hileman is a sophomore Psychology major at Shenandoah University. She finds inspiration around campus while being involved in many groups. She uses the creativity of her friends as motivation to find unique experiences.
Nora Hunter is an SU alum who recently graduated in the spring of 2025 with her Bachelor of Arts in English. She now works in the office of Hornet Central and is still active in literary spheres of SU. When she is not working to help our students and campus, she spends her time using up notebook paper when writing at her desk.
Nat Kees is a junior Creative and Technical Writing major at Virginia Tech. A writer of poetry, prose, and a connoisseur of sunset photos and a properly brewed cup of tea.
Em McCaughey is a film student, currently on a study abroad year from their home institute, Ulster University in Ireland. They enjoy traveling around Europe, where they find the inspiration for both their photography and writing.
Dr. Jared O'Connor is an Assistant Professor of English and Gender and Women's Studies at Shenandoah University. His scholarly work explores LGBTQIA+ representations in literature and art, especially in response to political and cultural dissonance. His academic work can be seen in the James Baldwin Review, and his creative work has appeared in Hyped on Melancholy.
Kelsey Robbins is in her final semester at Shepherd University as an English Major and a Communications Minor. Her past work has appeared in Avalon, Sans Merci, and Mosaic. She finds inspiration on her nature walks, as well as personal experiences with grief and overcoming depression.
Kameron Roberts is a sophomore at Shenandoah University, majoring in Pre-Occupational Therapy with a minor in Psychology. She plays on the university’s volleyball team and has loved reading and writing since childhood. Her work draws inspiration from the depth of human emotions and the quiet, often overlooked moments that shape our understanding of ourselves and the world.
