In CJ525, students choose a topic and develop a research proposal that includes a problem statement, preliminary research literature review and preliminary data collection plan. In CJ598, students have an opportunity to work with data sets provided to them and expand their analytical skills working with these qualitative and quantitative data. Students incorporate what they learn from the weekly assignments into revisions and additions made to the research proposal begun in CJ525.

The Final Project for CJ598 involves the completion of a comprehensive research proposal for studying the chosen topic which includes a finalized problem statement, literature review, research timeline, and plans for collecting, analyzing and disseminating the proposed study data.
