A job coach is responsible for working with students on their job site teaching them job skills, self-advocacy skills, a positive attitude, and good work habits. A job coaches responsibilities include:

• developing a specific task analysis of the job

• maintaining a relationship and open communication with the business

• collecting data on job performance

• strengthening job skills

• delivering positive reinforcement for work well done

• teaching self-advocacy

• getting co-workers involved as training assistants

• fading/gradually spending less time with the student at the job site

• sharing information gathered at the workplace
