Our quarterly Council meeting is scheduled for Saturday, February 10 at the JMU Festival Center, Allegheny Room in Harrisonburg. The meeting is scheduled from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
From 10:30 until noon, Paul Bugas and Steve Reeser from VDGIF will join us with information on “Managing Wild Trout in Virginia”.
The Department of Game & Inland Fisheries (DGIF) is preparing their Wild Trout Management Plan for Virginia. Steve Reeser, district fisheries biologist, is taking the lead on drafting the plan and he and Paul Bugas, aquatics manager for Region IV, will present their ideas and the expected timeline for the plan. They are seeking input from stakeholders including Trout Unlimited and hope to finalize the plan during 2018. This plan will complement the Stocked Trout Management Plan that DGIF completed in 2016.i
