The song "Light the Candles" by Jill Gallina is inspired by the Jewish holiday Hanukkah (חֲנוּכָּה).
Hanukkah commemorates the rededicating of the second temple in Jerusalem, and is commonly also referred to as the Festival of Lights.
Jewish people observe Hanukkah for eight days and nights; it begins on the 25th day of the Hebrew month Kislev, which can occur anytime around late November to late December.
Jewish people celebrate this holiday by practicing traditions, giving gifts, eating traditional foods (latkes and sufganiyot are popular), playing games (dreidel is a popular game), telling stories, and lighting the menorah.
What is a holiday you and your loved ones celebrate? What are some traditions and foods you eat to celebrate it?
