Thank you again everyone for the lovely gift. I have the best class!
Here is the work for today:
1. SeeSaw - Today when you log in to SeeSaw you will see two assignments. For ELA, I will be reading you part of our next story, "I Wanna Iguana" and asking you to answer two questions. You will also be asked to take a picture of one of your math assignments today.
2. ELA - First, look at the first two words in your new vocabulary list. They are tricky words - to doubt means to not be sure of something and compassionate is another word for caring. Do your best to use each of them in a sentence. Then go to SeeSaw to listen to me read the first part of "I Wanna Iguana". Think about some questions you'd like to ask the boy in the story and then predict what you think will happen at the end of the story. Record your answers and send me your video.
3. Grammar - This story we are reading is told through letters sent back and forth between Alex and his mother. In the days to come we will be learning about the different parts of a letter. The greeting is the part of the letter that says Dear ____. The closing of the letter is a way to end the letter, before you sign your name. Examples of closings are: Love, Your friend, Sincerely. Both the heading and the closing are followed by commas. Practice using the comma on the sheet below.
4. Phonics - Sort this week's or words by doing page 209.
5. Spelling - Write each of these words three times and use each in a sentence.
soar sport store storm thorn
6. Religion - Read pages 224 and 225. Answer this question on looseleaf or in a notebook: How did the early Christians show that they were followers of Jesus?
7. Math - Do pages 165 and 166 in the skinny math book. Then go to the big math book and do the Mid-Chapter Checkpoint on page 356. This is a quiz. Complete the page and then please go to SeeSaw and take a picture of your work to send to me.
Just for Fun: Today we celebrate Cinco de Mayo. It is a celebration of Mexican culture. It takes place each year on May 5th. Many people celebrate with food, music and dancing. Attached you will find a Cinco de Mayo information sheet and a word search. Disfrutar.
