The children in our class seem to be having a problem with their water bottles. There have been way too many spills in the classroom. We average about 6 water spills per day! Please do not send in water bottles that cannot be sealed tightly. It really is not necessary for water bottles to remain on the children's desks all day, so the children will be limited to taking them out at snack, at lunch, and after lunch or gym if needed. Thank you for your understanding.
With so many water spills our supply of paper towels has almost been depleted. Our tissue supply is also very low. Thank you to those who have already sent in a second box of tissues. I am reaching out at this time to ask for more paper towel and tissue donations. Thanks.

The children will be able to wear their Halloween costumes to school on Thursday, October 31 as long as the costumes comply with Mr. Kiernan's guidelines. The children will have a Halloween packet to do in between our planned classwork on that day. I have also planned a Halloween craft and a small party for Thursday afternoon. I understand there was a sign-up sheet for party snacks and drinks. Thank you to all who have signed up. If you would like to send in items in additon to what we will be having at our party (candy, goodie bags, gifts, etc.) you may do so, but please understand that these items will be given to the children and they will not be allowed to open or eat these things in class. I have purchased large Halloween Trick or Treat bags so that the children can take home these extra items. If you are sending in goodie bags or gifts, I ask that they be sent in with no names so that distributing them is easy. Thank you. Please reach out if you have any questions.Â
Happy Halloween! Â

First - it is with a grateful heart that I say thank you to all of you who made my birthday celebration so special. What a great day it was in school today! Thank you again for the flowers, cards, treats, and gifts. Â
I'm sorry the homework and announcements did not get posted yesterday as planned. Please read the announcements below for important information. Â
I have sent home today the Scholastic Reading Club information and offers. All books can be ordered on-line at the Scholastic website. In addition to the books in the flyer sent home, there are many other books available on the site. Just use the class code, DYYVG, when ordering. Books will be sent to school and given to your children when they arrive. Orders are due on Wednesday, October 15 and then it should take 7-10 business days after that to receive the books.
The children were visited today by a representative from the New York Public Library. Interested children were offered applications for library cards. The librarian will be back again this week, so if you fill in the application and send it back to school tomorrow she can get your child his or her library card right away.
Have a great week and thanks again! Â

This will be a full week of school. There will be a chapter 8 religion test on Wednesday and a spelling test on Thursday.
Thursday will be our class trip. The children are to come to school in complete uniform. We will be leaving the school at around 9:30 and will be back to school around noon. The children will be having popcorn and a snack at the movie theater and will be eating lunch when we return to school. Â
Some children are running out of pages in their homework notebook. You can purchase books on your own or from school ($3.00 each). If you are purchasing notebooks outside of school please be sure they are the third grade notebooks with the small, dotted lines. Thanks.
Thanks.
