A Career Portfolio is a collection of artifacts that represents your career history, where you are now, and where you want to go. A well developed Career Portfolio can help you organize your thoughts in order to get a good job and/or help you get into the college of your choice.
All students seeking high school credit through the Cooperative Education Program must present an acceptable Career Portfolio before the end of the fourth quarter of the school year. The portfolio can be turned in as many times as you would like. Use the Cooperative Education Coordinator as a resource to complete this project.
Below, in order, are the items you need to include in your portfolio. The artifacts should be bound in a professional manner, such as a 1/2" or 1" three ring notebook.
- A professional cover for the portfolio, including your name and the date.
- A table of contents
- Typed letter of introduction
- Career Interest Profile results and reflection.
- Typed resume
- Three letters of recommendation
- A completed Employability Evaluation from your RVTC teacher.
- A completed Employability Evaluation from your employer or supervisor.
- A copy of a properly filled out job application
- Journal writing of at least a basis level for at least 80 hours of work-based learning outside the normal tech program class time.
- At least three samples of your work
- An official high school transcript. (This is required for college, but employers also like to know this)
