A well-written introduction is an important requirement of the Career Portfolio. It should be addressed to either a business you would be interested in working for or a post-secondary institution (college, trade school, etc.). It can be written in general terms in regards to your career direction, or it can be addressed to a specific company or post-secondary institution as a model for future letters you are planning to write. It should be both personal and informative, spotlighting your best work. A letter of introduction serves as a first impression. It is critical that you address:

• your career aspirations and goals,
• the skills and abilities that would make you successful in a particular career or at a particular post-secondary ,
• why you are interested in this career path
• why this business or college should select you

This letter should be no longer than one (1) single-spaced, typewritten page.
