Narrative Speech
Value: 50 points (speech = 40 points, outline= 10 points)
Purpose:
A narrative is a story or account of events. This will be a non-fictional speech related to you or someone you know. The tone should be more lighthearted or entertaining than serious.
Criteria:
1. You may either use note cards or your memory for this speech.
2. A visual aid is mandatory; it can include pictures, videos, objects, illustrations, etc.
3. You may choose your own topic as long as it is non-fiction and related to you or someone you know. (If videos
are more than 30 seconds long, they will not be included in your overall time.)
Topic Examples:
-A favorite vacation
-Your childhood
-Your interests
-How your parents met
-Your grandparents immigrating to America
-Your best friend
-Most embarrassing moment
-Proudest moment
-Where do you see yourself in ten years?
Time Range: 3:00-5:00
Outline: You will turn in a written outline of your speech. Your outline does not have to be written in complete sentences. It should be an overview of your speech. Outlines will be due TODAY.
Order Format: We will lottery names to determine the presentation order.
