2025 Race Recaps

STMA Invitational - October 1, 2025

It was warm, sunny afternoon for the Armstrong team to run the course at that STMA Invite at St. Michael's Rec Center. The Falcons had 28 runners in all with 10 runners in the Varsity race and 18 runners in the JV race.

The JV runners ran their 5k first with sophmore, Ryan Anderson leading the team with a run of 20 minutes exactly. Sophmore, Kyle Mittendorf was next in for the Falcons at 20:14. Ben Foggia had a nice 1 minute PR in the JV race. The Varisty 5k race was next with junior, Benaiah Breker coming in first for the team at 16:52. Senior, Josh Sweeney ran 17:39 was the next in for Armstrong.

Osseo Invitational - September 25, 2025

The Osseo Invite at Dehn Pumpkin Patch was a sunny and hot afternoon of races. The Armstrong runners ran two races with the JV race runners starting the team off and then the Varsity runners wrapping it up. The JV race had 18 Falcons running. 7th Grader, Colin Stone was first in for JV at 20:38 and Sophmore, Mack Saffert running 21:07. The Varsity boys ran next. Junior, Benaiah Breker ran 17:13 taking 4th place and senior, Josh Sweeney had a run time of 17:42, taking 11th place!

Tom Watson Mustang Stampede Invitational - September 20, 2025

The Mustang Stampede Invitational with light rain, but the sun and heat came on fast for the races. Armstrong had 18 runners and 6 PRs!

The 2 mile middle school race started the team off with 7th grader, Colin Stone leading the group with a run time 12:29 and taking 11th place.

The gold JV team weas next running a 5k race. Sophmore, Ivan Krzyzanowski lead the gold race with a time of 24:45. Two freshmen had PRs this race. John Hastings took 16 seconds off and Kyle Nichols took an impressive 1 minute and 37 seconds off his PR.

The silver JV had seven runners, with sophmore, Carson Johnson leading the run with a time of 19:54. Sophmore Kyle Mittendorf was behine Carson with a time of 20:38!

Eden Prairie Metro Invitational - Under the Lights - September 13, 2025

It was a warm evening for runners and spectators at the Metro Invitational at Flying Cloud Fields in Eden Prairie. The runners started the evening with the youth 1 mile race, followed by the 3k middle school race , the JV black race at dusk and concluding with the varsity race running 5ks. Armstrong had 31 high school and middle school runners and 6 of the runners had PRs. Sophmore, Kyle Mittendorf set his PR by 44 seconds.

In the middle school 3k, 7th grader, Colin Stone led the team with a run time of 11:14 and took 23rd place in the race. In the JV Black 5k, freshmen, Isaiah Hanson at 19:24 was the first runner across the finish line for the team. Junior, Mack Saffert and sophmore, Kyle Mittendorf were next for Armstrong tying at 19:54. At the front in the Varsity 5k, junior, Benaiah Breker ran 17:10 with junior, Griffin Schmidt at 17:26 right behind leading our runners.

Bauman-Rovn Hopkins Invite - September 11, 2025

It was a chilly and rainy afternoon to run the Bauman-Rovn Hopkins Invite at Gale Wood Farms in Minnetrista. The course is part of the Three Rivers Park system and was designed specifically as a permanent cross country course. It is generally viewed by those who have competed here to be a demanding course with rolling terrain and several very tough hills. The runners had three races at this meet. There were 26 runners and 17 PRs at this Invite.

The Junior Varsity runners kicked off the 5k with 12 runners. Sophmore, Kyle Mittendorf led the way with 20:36, with sophmore, Reyan Thomas behind him at 20:50. The Varsity team was next to run their 5k with 14 runners and 11 PRs! Junior, Benaiah Breker led the team with 16:45 and Senior, Josh Sweeney running 17:00. The middle school racers were last to run their 3k race, but placed well with 7th grader, Colin Stone coming in 10th place with a time of 10:24.

Irish Invitational - August 29, 2025

It was a beautiful morning for the team to run the first official meet of the year. Freshman, Easton Woelfle took 10th place in the Freshman race. The Falcons had an incredible 23 PRs of 34 runners at this race with Oliver Novak, John Hastings, Kyle Nichols and Evan Mittendorf all taking off more than 2 minutes from their PRs.

For the high school and middle school runners, there were three races. There were the Varsity race, the C race and the 9th grade and under race. There were also three young runners in the 5th Grade and under representing Armstrong.

In the Varsity race, junior Benaiah Brekert at 10:35 and senior, Josh Sweeney at 10:38 were AHS's top finishers. Junior, Griffin Schmidt came in behind them at 10:55. In the C Race, junior Charles Johnson led the Falcons and took 19th place at 12:24! In the Freshman and under race, Easton Woelfle headed up the team with a run of 11:09.

Kleyman Alumni Time Trail - August 23, 2025

It was a crisp morning for the 55th annual Kleyman Time Trail at Hidden Valley Park in New Hope, MN. The boys team was divided up into two teams - red and blue for a little competative spirit. The red team won with a score of 24 points, with blue at 33 points.

Runners ran a timed two mile loop in the morning sunshine with impressive results. Senior, Josh Sweeney finished first in 11 minutes and 5 seconds. Close behind was junior, Griffin Schmidt at 11:06 and third was junior, Benaiah Breker at 11:08! Sophmore, Carson Johnson had an amazing PR, cutting off 2 minutes abd 31 seconds to his time and taking 10th place.
