Important Information & Updates
Osseo - Armstrong Dual -- 10/14/25
This is a snack sign up for both the girls and boys teams to share after the heats. Please review the available slots here and click on the button to sign up. Please have your donation to the table on the field by 3:30pm so that we are out of the runners way when the first heat starts at 4pm. If you are not able to make it to the meet, but would like to send food or beverages to, please contact Kate Krzyzanowski at KateKrzyz@gmail.com or 651.210.2169 to coordinate
Grade Level Championship
The next volunteer opportunity is the Grade Level Championship at Bassett Creek on 10/20. The Lefty Wright Grade Level Meet is our main fundraiser for the boys team--it's a fun event to get involved in, and all of the jobs are easy. Please take a moment to sign up here. Thanks in advance for helping us out! This meet could not happen without you. Make sure you arrive early. Parking can be a problem if you arrive late. If you have any questions about your assignment, please direct them to Robb Stephens prior to the start of the races. Please bring whatever you need with you and use the bathroom before arriving at the meet. There will be many athletes needing to use the restroom on site and the lines will be very long. Once the races begin, there is very little time to take care of bathroom breaks and questions.

Rick Kleyman coached cross country and track and field for 50 years, 32 of which were at Armstrong. His cross country teams (both boys and girls) made 43 appearances at the State Meet, had 18 Conference Championships, and three State Championships. In his many years of coaching, he touched the lives of thousands of young people. Rick was passionate about improvement and using running and sport to build character and resilience in kids. Through Rick’s coaching, his runners learned to be disciplined, devoted and dedicated to their team. These skills helped these athletes to navigate future challenges and be successful citizens.
Coach Kleyman passed away in 2021 and we want to recognize his legacy at Armstrong and beyond through the Kleyman Cross Country Scholarship. This scholarship will award one male and one female cross country runner to be used toward post secondary education expenses. Our goal is to raise money to build a well endowed and sustainable scholarship fund. If we are able to collect $12,000 in donations, we can award two $250 scholarships each year. Collecting $25,000 will enable us to award two $500 scholarships each year. In 2022 and 2023 we were able to award $250 scholarships and we are very close to being able to award $500 scholarships. Please donate.

Carbo Load info:
Kick-off: Mark your calendars for our Season Kick-Off!! This is a Parent Social for parents/guardians/coaches and Carbo Load for runners, hosted in partnership with the girls team on Monday, 8/25 from 6-9pm. The Season Kick-off parties are right across the street from each other. Please see the carboload document below for address details.
What should I bring to a carbo load? There will be a food category assigned to each grade level, which rotates with each carbo load. Bring the amount of food that you would bring to a potluck or to serve a large family.
Who attends, and why? Carbo loads are to build team camaraderie and to have fun outside of practice and meets. As the name implies, the carbo load is a carb-heavy meal, to fuel up the day before the a race. The carbo loads are optional and are attended by runners, not parents/families (with the exception of the kick-off carbo load / parent social on 8/25). Runners are to follow the AHS Athletics Code of Conduct at the carbo loads and are expected to be respectful of themselves, teammates, and host's home (clean up after yourself, don't go into off-limit rooms, etc.) The carbo loads are co-ed, and hosted in partnership with the boys and girls team.

Twin Cities Marathon:
For over a decade, Armstrong has operated the Mile 11 fluid station at the Twin Cities Marathon. This event is great for team building and connecting families. It’s also inspiring and empowering to watch every runner from elite to everyday runners take on the challenge of the marathon.
The boys’ and girls’ boosters receive a donation for each volunteer so make sure to sign up and recruit friends and family to help raise funds to support our teams.
