"You don't have to be good, you just have to have fun" ~ Rick Kleyman

Rick's love for running began at Minneapolis North High School, then continued to the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. After receiving an MA in Education from St. Thomas. Rick enjoyed a 35+ year career as a math teacher and Cross Country/Track coach at Armstrong High School. The impact of his coaching led to induction into the Minnesota High School Cross Country Coaches Hall of Fame, as well as the Armstrong Coaches Hall of Fame. In retirement, Rick continued his running and golfing and his commitment to teaching and coaching through adjunct teaching and Assisting High School Cross Country/Track teams. Rick pioneered coaching adult running groups in the early 80's, and helped many achieve their PR.

Coach Kleyman passed away in 2021 after a struggle with Dementia. We want to recognize his legacy at Armstrong and beyond through the Coach Kleyman Cross Country Scholarship.
