2022 Race Recap Season and more!

2022 Season

State Meet

It was hard to believe that the state meet was once again upon us!  Not surprisingly, Noah Breker, was back to represent Armstrong!  Noah came into the race a week after rolling his ankle in the conference meet and feeling a little under the weather.  As expected, Noah, ran a strong race.  He was in the lead pack most of the race.  Unfortunately he rolled his ankle once again late in the race.  He finished the race with a notable limp but was still able to come in seventh place overall!  It probably wasn't the finish he hoped for but everyone who follows Armstrong cross country and Noah Breker know that he has many great races in front of him!  Congratulations to Noah!

Section Meet

The Falcons were up against some top teams in the section meet and they came out and gave their all!  The team came in fourth overall but they provided their fans with many highlights!  Gabriel Wiegert, Adam Marable, Nate Majewski, and Sam Majewski all set their PR's!  Gabriel and Alex ran very strong races for Armstrong and just missed the cut-off for making state.  Noah Breker, once again did not dissapoint.  After rolling his ankle early in the race he managed to stay with the lead pack and was able to finish fourth overall and qualify for state!

Lefty Wright Invite

It was another very successful invite hosted by Armstrong!  Coach Stephens, Coach Woelfle, and Coach Hubred  spent a lot of time behind the scenes and spent the day getting ready for the race and it showed.   Also, a big THANK YOU to all the parents and Armstrong staff members who volunteered at this event!

It was a cool and wet day for a race but that didn't stop the Falcons!  There was an incredible 15 PR's set by the runners.  They were led by Jack Kennedy (1:08), Dinesara Jaywardena (1:12), Heath Wilson (1:42), and Xander Griffin (2:29)!  The team was also able to celebrate three medal winners!  They were Ben Squires, Jake Wilkinson, and Josh Sweeney.

Conference Championship

The expectations were high for the Falcons as they arrived at the Conference Championship and they did not disappoint!  The Varsity won the conference and Noah Breker was the overall champion!  Noah was joined later in the day by Caitlyn Osanai, who won the overall championship for the girls, making it a clean sweep for Armstrong!  The weather turned bad after the Varsity race and the JV ended up racing with the girls JV.  A big congratulations to Noah Breker, Alex Omodt, Gabriel Wiegert, and Grant Redelsheimer who earned All-Conference honors.  Not to be outdone, Antonio Guerrero Garcia, earned All-Conference JV honors!  Another highlight of the day was put on by Sam Majewski, who lost a shoe during the race.  But with his never die attitude, finished the race strong and finished 5th for Armstrong which proved to be strong enough to lead them to the championship!

STMA Invitational

It was the Falcons first time at this invitational.  It was a beautiful fall day and it turned out to be very spectator friendly.  There were seven PR's set on this interesting and dusty course.  Eighth grader, Ethan Mosier, set his PR by a cool 36 seconds!

Osseo Invite

It was a beautiful fall day for a race!  The leaves were changing color, the sun was out, and it was an ideal temp for the race!  The top five Varsity runners sat out this race but the rest of the team were able to enjoy the course!    The Falcon runners took advantage of the beautiful day and twelve runners set their PR's on the day.  Freshmen,  Grayson Squires and Dinesara Jayawardena, set their PR's by over 4 minutes!

This race followed up the Griak Invite and was for the JV and middle schoolers.  Sophomore, Owen McNutt, had a great race finishing in a time of 19:50.  Senior, Ben Squires, led the way for the Falcons finishing with an impressive time of 19:02.  Overall, there were nine PR's set on this day!

Griak Invite

It was the first time at the Griak for many of the Falcon runners and by all accounts they enjoyed the race!  Freshman, Josh Sweeney, had a great race finishing in an adjusted time of 19:26!  It was a very competitive race with a lot of top teams and top runners!  Noah Breker, once again didn't dissapoint by finishing first overall!

Metro Invite

It was a cool morning with low humidity as the Falcons arrived for the meet.  However, this was just a teaser as the temp and humidity rose for the start of the races!  With these conditions and a slightly longer course, overall times were kept down.  The Varsity, nontheless, had a very strong showing by finishing 3rd overall out of a field of 9.  Once again, Noah Breker and Alex Omodt, led the Falcons finishing 1st and 3rd respectively!

Hopkins Invatational

Thank goodness the race was postponed for a day!  The hot and humid weather gave way and the Falcon runners were greeted by a cool and slightly wet day!  It turned out to be a nice day for both the JV and Varsity.  The JV placed sixth out of nine teams while the varsity came in third out of a strong eleven team field!  Sophomore, Gabriel Wiegert, ran the ninth fastest time in school history for a sophomore.  Senior, Alex Omodt, ran the second fastest time for a Falcon at this race with a time of 15:54!  Finally, Noah Breker, broke his own school record by finishing in a time of 14:57.2!

Rosemount Invite

This was the first high school race for many of the Falcon runners as the JV and 9th graders and middle schoolers took to the course!  Twelve runners set their PR on the course!  Owen Thul led the way by impoving his PR by 2 minutes and 37 seconds!  With all the new runners and strong showing by some of the more experienced runners, the future of the team looks very bright!

St. Olaf Invatational

It was a hot and humid morning and the Falcons prepared for their first high school race of the year!  Overall, the team finished 8th in a very large and competitive field!  A big congrats to, Noah Breker, who finished in a time of 15:26 and not only led the Falcons but also finished first overall!  Junior, Adam Marable, set his PR in the race by 7 seconds and sophomore, Gabriel Wiegert, set his PR by a very impressive 2 minutes and 3 seconds!  It should be a great season for the Falcons!

Kleyman Time Trial

After an overnight rain, the sun came out and it was a beautiful morning for a race!  Twelve Falcon runners set their PR on the course!  They were led by junior, Adam Marable, who set his PR by an amazing 51 seconds.  Senior, Alex Omodt, set the overall pace and finished in a very impressive time of 10:23!  Once again one of the crowd favorites had to be, Wade Majewski, who ran for the Alumni!  In last year's race he posted an amazing time of 13:31!  This year with his intensive training and rigid diet, he ran the course in an incredible time of 13:07!

2021 Season

Section 6AAA

The Falcon Varsity runners gave it their all in their final race as a team for the year!  There was an incredible six PR's set on this day.  Senior, Ryan Wilkinson, led this group by setting his PR by an impressive 38 seconds!

Once again, Noah Breker and Alex Omodt, led the way!  Noah came in first overall and Alex finished eighth!  They both will proudly represent Armstrong at the upcoming state meet!  Good luck to both runners!

Lefty Wright Invite

The Falcon runners have been to quite a number of meets this year but this one far and away topped all of them!  It was a top notch experience for runners and fans alike from the moment they arrived at Bassett Creek Park until the time they left!  This would not have been the case without all the hard work from Coach Stephens, Coach Woelfle, and Coach Hubred!  Also, a special shout-out to all the parent volunteers that helped make this such a success!

It was a beautiful fall day again and the Falcon runners took full advantage of it!  There was a total of nine PR's set on this day!  Eighth grader, Anders Hassis, led the pack by besting his PR by an incredible 1 minute and 4 seconds!  Sophomores, Andrew Brincks and Jake Wilkinson, both were medal winners in their race.  However, probably the highlight of the day was watching the four seniors run their final race for Armstrong!  Jayden Overdahl, Isaac Eshbach, and Eric Matushak all had very strong final races!  Jakob Swenson, really stepped it up and set his own PR on his final race as a Falcon!

Centenial 2M

It was a beautiful fall day and a great day for a race!  After racing in a number of 5K's the Falcon runners scaled it back a little with this two mile race.  Although it was a shorter distance, the runners were able to adjust to the distance and had a great showing.  A very impressive sixteen PR's were set on this day!  Three runners improved by over 1 minute!  They were freshman, Owen McNutt (1 minute 22 seconds), freshman, Sam Majewski, (1 minute 9 seconds), and junior, Antonio Guerrero Garcia (1 minute 5 seconds).  Once again the Falcons were led by the dynamic duo of Noah Breker and Alex Omodt who finished first and second overall!

Conference Meet

The forecast called for a rainy day but the Falcon runners were able to avoid the bad weather and enjoyed a great day for a race!  It was a hilly course which kept the overall times down but both the Varsity and JV runners gave it their all!  The was a total of five PRs set on this day.  They were led by seventh grader, Mack Saffert, who set his PR by a very impressive 54 seconds!  Noah Breker and Alex Omodt led the Varsity by finishing first and sixth overall and in the process earning All Conference honors.  Jayden Overdahl and Jake Wilkinson earned JV all conference honors.  The final highlight came once again from sophomore, Jake Wilkinson, as he vomited shortly after his race for the second time this season!  (A closer look at his diet might be in order!)

Thundering Royal Elk

This race was held in Otsego on a course that the boys call, The Pancake Course.  A number of the Falcon runners continued to improve as 10 of them set their PR at the race.  Eighth grader, Joshua Sweeney, continued to make great strides and led this group by setting his PR by an impressive 1 minute and 5 seconds.  Both the Varsity and JV teams had runners that placed very high in their respective races.  The Varsity was led yet again by, Noah Breker and Alex Omodt, who finished first and second overall.  The JV had three runners placing in the top five.  They were Nate Majewski (2nd), Jake Wilkinson (4th), and Jayden Overdahl (5th)!

Osseo Invite

It was a warm and humid day as the Falcon runners arrived at the meet.  Once off the bus they were greeted by a downpour that dropped the humidity but it was only a tease as the air got heavy once again before race time!  A number of the Falcon runners sat this meet out but there were still seven PR's set this day.  Eighth grader, Joshua Sweeney, led this group by setting his PR by 35 seconds!  Another highlight of the invite came from the girls side where sophomore, Caitlyn Osanai, won the varsity girls race and broke her own school record in the progress!

Milaca Mega Meet

It was a beautiful day for a race and it was awesome to see all the teams back for the Mega Meet.  The Falcon runners had a great day and left it all on the course.  Especially, Jake Wilkinson.  (More on that later.)  An amazing, 21 Falcon runners, set their PR's at the meet.  They were led by freshman, Quinn Himmelberg, who set his PR by an incredible 2 minutes and 9 seconds.  Noah Breker and Alex Omodt both had very strong races finishing FIRST and FIFTH respectfully.  Another memorable moment came from sophomore, Jake Wilkinson.  He said he felt like he had to throw-up the last mile of his race but was able to hold it back until he finished the race.  He then proceeded to empty his stomach on the grass just past the finish line.  His brother was quoted as saying, "He came back to the tent with a little throw-up on his singlet.  It was really cool!"

Alumni Race 2 miles (2019-08-17)

Another perfect Saturday morning. Thanks so much for all the parents who brought food and helped set up everything. The alumni were quite organized with some of our recent faster runners and achieved a narrow victory. On a personal note, the booster president (me) was passed by I believe Jaden with about 0.3 miles left. It was great to see him work so hard at the end of the race.

The season got off to a good start. The varsity runners placed 12 out of 29, freshmen 13 of 21, C class 11 of 19, and JV 15 of 21. We had two varsity runners finish under 11:00 and 7 more runners under 12:00. The course at times was a bit congested with over 200 runners per race. Results can be found here.

It was a very hot day with high humidity on a tough hilly course. The runners enjoyed their first 5K race of the year. Hopefully your athlete is not too hard on themselves about their time. There were 12 PRs set led by Pierce Anderson (3:01) for JV and Noah Breker for V (1:02). Good job runners.

Great finish Sam Majewski!

Milaca Mega Meet Recap

Well, the weather was very wet and race course turned to a soggy mud run. The runners had to stay on the bus early in the day due to lighting. A lot of the day was spent trying to stay dry under the canopy. There was over 6000 runners and a mile long line of buses parked on the road. The big takeaway from this race is that sometimes conditions will not be very good, but the runners still went out and competed.

Osseo Invite

The runners last week competed at Elm Creek Park. It is a beautiful park.

Griak Invitational

It was a perfect September day for running. There was 500 runners and 60 teams in the Gold event! The race was very tight for the runners, and there were also college races too. The course goes right through the middle of the tent area, and the non-racing runners cheer on the fellow runners.

-Booster Club

Thundering Royal Elk Invite

It was a perfect evening for running with overcast skies and 50° temperatures. The course was dry, with lots of twists and turns as the runners did three laps in Prairie Park Ostego. The spectators got to see the runners pass by about six times.

Twin Cities Marathon Mile 11

The day started a bit on the cool side, but was a perfect 60° at the end. We had a great time helping the marathon runners. The cross country all came with excellent attitudes and worked hard. The event provides a good learning experience about helping others during a race.    -Booster Club

Northwest Conference Championship

Congratulations all Armstrong runners! The V team placed 2nd and the JV team placed 3rd. It was a slow and wet course at the Elk River golf course. The temperature was very nice for running at 60° with a slight drizzle. We ended up with 8 total All Conference runners, with 4 each for V & JV. Great job.

Centennial Last Chance Race

It was 45° with a slight drizzle. The course involved multiple loops around the high school as spectators saw the runners pass us numerous times. It is probably the most curved race course of the year.
