Avalyn Mathis

Avalyn grew up in a small ski town in the Catskill Mountains but spent the last decade living in Washington DC and then in NYC. She graduated from Georgetown University with a BA in Fine Art and History, then worked as a K-8 art teacher in Brooklyn.

As a teacher, Avalyn strives to instill her students with the confidence to tackle artistic challenges. She believes that art is especially valuable for self expression during the middle school years.

In 2022, Avalyn moved to Vermont in order to access nature more, grow a large garden, and continue her work in Arts Education. When not teaching, she can be found with her flowers and vegetables, or out on a hiking trail with a watercolor sketch pad.
