Beth McReynolds

Hi there, I’m Beth McReynolds and I am very excited to be teaching Ceramics, Sculpture and other Visual Art classes at Rutland High School School. I have been teaching for over 18 years in Brooklyn, the Bronx and most recently in Rutland Town. My educational background and training is in metal and ceramic sculpture. I have a BFA from New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred, a MFA from SUNY Buffalo and a MA in Art Education from Teachers’ College at Columbia University.

When I am not teaching I can be found in my art studio, working in my garden, hiking with my family and our dogs or enjoying some downtime with a good book.

When It comes to teaching I believe that my job is to give students the tools and techniques to explore and visually express their interests and beliefs. They should be comfortable learning through experimentation, trial and error. The classroom is their studio. I model lifelong learning in my professional and personal life. One of my favorite quotes by Richard Feynman is:

“Students should be made to think, to doubt, to communicate, to question and to learn from their mistakes and to most importantly ro have fun in their learning”
