Kate Richards

Kate Richards teaches visual arts at Northeast, Northwest, and Pierpoint Learning Center. A Rutland native, Kate left the area for school and has returned to Rutland City to raise her family.


Kate earned her BA in Art and Graphic Design from Keene State College. She attended the Teacher Apprenticeship Program in Burlington working in Chittenden County schools and obtaining PK-12 Art Education licensure via peer review through the Vermont Agency of Education. She holds an MBA from Castleton University with a concentration in media and communication. Before coming to Rutland City Schools, Kate worked as the Director of Design for Castleton University.


Kate strives to make her classroom a safe and inclusive space where all students are encouraged to learn independence, explore creativity through new materials and processes, and take risks in their artwork.
