Originally from western Pennsylvania, Brent Barnett graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Music Education degree from The University of Akron (OH). After serving as Graduate Assistant with University Bands and receiving his Master of Music degree from Akron, he began his teaching career in Harrison County, Ohio. Brent began teaching instrumental music in the Rutland City Public Schools in 2007 and has been named New Music Educator of the Year by the Green Mountain Music District and the Vermont Music Educators Association, and Music Educator of the Year by the Green Mountain Music District. Mr. Barnett has twice been named to School Band & Orchestra Magazine’s 40 Directors Who Make a Difference. Brent has also served the VMEA as Instrumental Chair and Conference Chair.
