Lasercut Box Project Reflection
For this project, I had to design and cut a wooden box that had text and could open and close. In order to get the dimensions and design of the box, I had to use a website that would render the sides of a box to my selected preferences. For my box, I decided to do a six-sided cube that was 5 inches long and 5 inches wide on each side. For the required text I just decided to put my initials on the lid of the box to keep it simple. Once the plans for the box were rendered I put them into Inkscape then added yellow coloring to the outlines of the sides of the box and kept the text black.
Once I had all my colors set up, I uploaded the box file to the printer and set everything up. I was unable to get the raster option to work so I ended up having to vector every single line which wasn't too big a problem because I prefer vectored text over rastered text. Once the power and speeds of the two vector lines were set up I was ready to print it all out. When it was finished printing all I had to do was glue all of the sides, besides the top side, together to finish my project.
