Fletcher's Box With Sliding Lid Reflection
For the design of this project, I had to model a box that I could open and close with a functional lid. I was able to make the box any size or shape I wanted so I chose to model it as a simple rectangular box that would be able to hold a deck of playing cards. This being the case, I had to google the dimensions of a playing card and make the dimensions of my box’s height, length, and width a few centimeters larger so the cards would be able to get in and out of the box easily. I found modeling the rectangular portion of the box to be easy, however, modeling a lid that would fit into the box’s sockets proved to be challenging even when following a Youtube video.
After the design was completed, my next step was to finally print my model. I am still familiarizing myself with the Prusa software so it always takes me a moment to get my model onto the SD card and into the 3D printer. For my model, I used PLA filament because it seems to work the best for these larger types of models. Overall, I believe I am improving my skills with Fusion360 and the 3D printer. I look forward to doing more projects in Inkscape and working with the laser cutter more often.
