This geography course focuses heavily on the concept of sustainability. Today, we will begin to scratch the surface of what this term means and how it relates to our learning this semester.

Using the maps provided complete the following questions:
MAPS: activity-1-8-malvern-area-maps
You are looking at two images of Malvern. Can You See the Similarities? They feature the same geographic area. One of them is a satellite image and the other is a topographic map.
- How can you tell that the maps feature the same geographic area? Identify five features on the maps that are the same. Number them 1 to 5 on each map.
- Name specific features (e.g. natural/physical) that can be found on the map. Feel free to look at either map to help you with this question.
- Find the following on both maps, circle the feature and label them with the corresponding letter.
A) A road
B) A highway
C) Lester B. Pearson Collegiate Institute
D) Malvern mall
E) The rail lines
4. Look at the topographic image. Based on the information from the satellite image, what do the following colours represent on your topographic map?
