Climate Change and Google Earth

TASK 1 : Can you describe the impacts of climate change

by analyzing glacier evidence and climate data?

A- You will fly to locations using Google Earth and Open the pictures you see there.

B- You will compare pictures of Glaciers from the past and present and record your observations.

- You will describe changes you see between the pictures.. Essentially you will describe what has

happened between the time the pictures were taken

C- After looking at the pictures, soon in and out of Google Earth and change angles of view to see

the region in more detail to help explain the changes you see.

GOOGLE EARTH AND KMZ FILES

You will be using the GOOGLE EARTH PROGRAM on your computer.

- This will not work on a chrome book or Ipad!!.

Steps to Follow.

1. You will click on a KMZ file below. This file will open what we call an overlay on GOOGLE EARTH.

2. Download the file, it should appear on the bottom left of your screen as climatehotspots.kmz.

3. Click on the file, it should open the Google Earth Program for you.

4. Look for the file on the left on Google Earth and make sure it has a check mark beside it.

5. Follow the instructions on the worksheet.

B- Under Investigating Weather and Climate with Google Earth,

click on Google Earth file: weatherandclimate.kmz.
