The North Butler Friends of Music (NBFOM)
North Butler Friends of Music is a parent volunteer advocate group made up of chorus parents and band parents. The North Butler Friends of Music’s mission is to provide a meaningful and enjoyable environment for students in the music department. Throughout the year, the North Butler Friends of Music raises funds to be used by the music directors to purchase items for their departments that are not within their departmental budgets. These funds also provide scholarships and grants for students for non-covered competition expenses i.e. meals and lodging, music camps, clinics and performances. Families may also apply for assistance with instrument rentals, repairs, and private music lessons.

All parents and guardians of students in Choir and Band 5th through 12th grades are considered members and are welcome to attend the North Butler Friends of Music meetings, which are held in alternating locations between the North Butler Junior/Senior High School in Greene and the North Butler Elementary School in Allison, at times scheduled to result in the least conflict with ongoing North Butler district activities and events, often late Wednesday afternoons. Watch for an email sent through Infinite Campus for the next meeting time and location.
The Butter Braid Pastry Fundraiser sales are active for two weeks in the last half of January. Delivery is after school during the second week of February. Each Butter Braid a student sells reduces the cost of the North Butler High School Music Trip that occurs every four years. Delivery for the HS & JH Choir and Band members is in Greene. Delivery for the Grade 5 and Grade 6 students is in Allison. All students in grades 5 and 6 are eligible to sell pastries to ensure all future high school music students have an equal opportunity to raise funds.
The NBFOM Waffle Brunch is held at the JH/HS cafeteria in Greene on the first Sunday morning in March. Music students receive a packet of 5 discounted tickets to sell in advance. Students turn in the money and unsold tickets prior to the brunch. Tickets may also be purchased at the door. Everyone eats waffles and catches up with neighbors and friends.
The NBFOM Fair Stand provides a variety of entrees, desserts, snacks, and drinks to fairgoers during the Butler County Fair at the fairgrounds in Allison held the third week in June. Adults and older students sign up to cover shifts, helping to run the stand during the fair. Younger music students may also help if they are accompanied by an adult.
