JH/HS BAND SCHEDULE 2024 Qtr 3

Lesson Expectations

Students are expected to prepare for and attend a scheduled 15 minute lesson once every 6 day cycle.  At lessons, students will be introduced to and show progress on current performance music.  There may be informal playing checks on performance music, scales, and other skills in order to advance technique and musicianship.

Make Up Lessons

INFINITE CAMPUS:  If a student misses a lesson during a quarter, it will be marked with an "L" in Infinite Campus. Assignments marked with an "L" are not calculated as zero points.  Subsequent missed lessons will be marked with an "M" and will count as a zero until the lesson is made up.  This policy makes it possible to miss one lesson per quarter without affecting the band grade.

MAKE UP ARRANGEMENTS:  To make up a lesson, a student may arrange to come at a time that is open on the band schedule or may ask to join another student's scheduled time. The student can talk to the director in person before school or when there is a break in the lesson schedule or send an email suggesting a time for a make up. This should be arranged as soon as possible after a lesson is missed.

VIDEO MAKE UP:  Students may arrange to video record one lesson per quarter as a make up.  The director will select the material, such as a scale, lesson line, or section of music.  Student and instrument should be visible in the video and the material should be played with a metronome beat or a recording of the music.  The recording will show the student's best effort and be between 1-2 minutes.

END OF QUARTER:  To allow fair access to make up opportunities, students will be limited to one in-person make up lesson during the last two weeks of a grading period. For more information please refer to the Procedures for Making Up Work on page 13 of the North Butler Jr/Sr. Student Handbook.
