JH Jazz Band

REHEARSALS:  The North Butler Junior High Jazz Band meets once per week from 7:15-7:50 a.m. in the JH/HS band room beginning mid-October. Which morning is decided by group consensus, and is most often Tuesday or Wednesday. Rehearsals continue until the band performs in February/March. Students must attend at least half of the morning rehearsals in order to participate in the Jazz Clinic.  It is important for the group to hear each other's parts during rehearsals and to hear their own part while others are playing.  Jazz players who have attended some rehearsals and who demonstrate they can play the music may perform at the JH Variety Show with director approval.  

PERFORMANCES:  The band performs at the Junior High Variety Show at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13th, at the NBHS Old Gym. Because NCIBA Middle School Jazz Festival has been moved to March which does not help us prepare for our variety show performance, we have invited a clinician to North Butler on Thursday, February 8.  More on this as details become available.  The March 7th date will remain on the schedule until our own clinic is secured.

UNIFORM:  Band members wear the NBJH blue/gold shirts (provided) with dark navy pants (nice jeans are acceptable) for jazz band performances.  Avoid the distressed/ripped out look in pants and shoes that may not blend in with a uniform look.
