Dengue and Zika
There is no specific treatment for dengue or dengue haemorrhagic fever. However, supportive care with intravenous fluids and frequent blood test monitoring reduces complications of the disease. In severe cases, blood transfusions may be required.
The National Environment Agency has launched the annual ‘Do the Mozzie Wipeout’ Campaign 2016 on Sunday, 28 February 2016, ahead of the traditional dengue peak season. The campaign calls for the community to take appropriate precautions to prevent mosquito breeding by practising the 5-step Mozzie Wipeout in their homes and premises. Starting from 28 February, a concerted effort by all over a 14-day period will address two rounds of mosquito breeding cycle, and this will make a collective impact towards suppressing the population.
Always remember to look out for possible areas of mosquito breeding, in particular clearing up of stagnant water in containers and flower pot plates/trays. To achieve collective impact in suppressing the mosquito population, It is crucial that we step up our measures and take precautions to clean up our living environment in the every week diligently. Please refer to the NEA link on follow-up actions.
