Learning Objectives:
At the end of the course, the staff will:
1) be able to deal with emergency situations .
2) know the application and limits of basic first aid .
3) familiarise themselves with CPR and use of AED
4) be certified for first aid with CPR + AED
During an Emergency
1) Remain Calm
2) Be fully aware of the hazards and danger around you
3) Provide early first aid intervention as possible
4) Call for appropriate help when needed
5) Communication is the key
6) Always ask for consent before rendering first aid help
Choking
Signs & Symptom of Choking
Victim unable to:
Speak
Breathe
Cough
Primary Survey (DRS ABC)
Danger - ensure that the environment is safe to approach patient.
Response - Tap the victim shoulder firmly and ask: "Hello! Hello! Are you ok?"
Shout - Point to persons and shout "You call ambulance 995. You get an AED"
Perform CPR on firm and flat surface
Airway - Head tilt, Chin Lift. Open Airway.
Breathing - Look for normal. Not more than 10 seconds.
LOOK, LISTEN & CHECK
Compression - Locate landmark and start 30 chest compressions.
Use of AED
Chest must be CLEAN, BARE & DRY
DO NOT Touch Patient
