My name is Vivek Saini and I graduated with a Bachelors in Chemical Engineering from UPES, Dehradun, India in 2015. Thereafter, I worked for 3 years as a Process Engineer at Tata Consulting Engineer working on Basic Engineering, Detailed Engineering for a variety of industrial systems like Storage Terminals, LPG Plants and Polymer Films Units. I joined Advanced process engineering and systems group in 2018 as a PhD student in Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering at West Virginia University. I am currently working with Dr. Debangsu Bhattacharyya as a Graduate Research Assistant. My main area of research is development of advanced estimation framework for condition monitoring of complex systems using hybrid first principles modeling techniques. Apart from my research works, I am an avid long-distance runner and enjoy going outdoors for hiking and mountaineering expeditions.
Education:
Ph.D. Chemical Engineering, West Virginia University, Morgantown, WV, 2018 - 2024
B.Tech. Chemical Engineering, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun, India, 2011 - 2015
Work Experience:
Senior Engineer (Chemical), Tata Consulting Engineers Limited, India, 2015 - 2018
Condition Monitoring using Nonlinear Grey Box Models
The main focus of my research is development of advanced estimation algorithms for real-life systems which are difficult to be modelled. I am currently using first principles modelling techniques using differential-algebraic equations system to model these complex systems in MATLAB. These models are then utilized in an estimation framework using modified forms of Kalman Filtering Techniques. The model and the estimation framework are being validated using real time operation data obtained from various industrial plants.
