Spanish National Honor Society
José Martí Chapter
La Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica is an honor society for high school students enrolled in Spanish and it is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers for Spanish and Portuguese. The purpose of the society is to recognize the high achievement of students in the Spanish language and promote a continuing interest in Hispanic Studies.
Our chapter has been established since 2008 as the Capítulo José Martí in honor of the Cuban patriot and writer José Martí. Our motto is "All together" and our induction ceremony is held in the Fall.
REQUIREMENTS OVERVIEW:
· Student will be enrolled in an advanced Spanish class.
· Student will be enrolled in honors level Spanish courses and will maintain a
minimum of an 89 average in these courses.
· Students will attend all monthly meetings “Charlas” afterschool. Charla is an event
where Spanish is practiced and we participate in an enrichment cultural activity.
· Students will perform a minimum 5 hours of community service hours.
