8th Grade
Foreign Language classes in grade eight stress the four language skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing, with an emphasis on meaningful communication and cultural awareness. Students will be able to talk about themselves, their families, and their favorite pastimes, in addition to other situational themes.
Criteria for placement into the 120 level Foreign Language courses are: A minimum grade of 90% in grade seven, a strong ability to manipulate the foreign language (in both written and spoken forms), and a strong work ethic.

Introduction to Spanish
This course is for students who are experiencing foreign language for the first time and designed to prepare students for Spanish 1 at the high school level. In this course, students will engage in hands-on, personalized activities, projects, songs, games and basic dialogues that will serve to introduce them to the language and the rich culture of the Hispanic world. A communicative approach will be used. Topics will include greetings, telling time, classroom expressions, school, foods, family and friends, and leisure activities.
