Middle Ages

In this unit we will explore cultural, political, and religious aspects of what has come to be known as the "dark ages".  However, I think we will find that this time was not so dark, but a time of discovery, amazing architecture, beautiful writing, etc.  Throughout this unit the students will participate in a variety of art projects, simulations, and readings.  Specific topics we will cover are: 

• The power of the Church

• Monks and Monasteries

• Charlemagne

• The Feudal system

• The Black Plague

• Castles

• Knights and Tournaments

  • Cathedrals
