Heritage

The Heritage unit focuses on developing research writing skills.  During the Heritage unit, students are put into groups of 3 to make a journey across the United States.  Starting on the west coast, they "visit" different monuments and national parks making their way to the east coast on a route of their choosing.  In order to gain miles to move across the country each group member will complete projects and reports on three chosen national parks or monuments.  Each group member needs to complete one report in the three regions of the country; west, central, and east.   Along the way each group must keep a diary, manage their time to complete projects and reports, encounter fate cards that could change their course, keep track of miles gained and projects completed, and work together to make all of this happen.   This is a very fun and engaging way to learn the art of writing a report. : )
