Nursing 101 provides students with foundational knowledge and hands-on experience in patient care, safety, and basic medical procedures. Through classroom instruction and supervised lab practice, students develop the skills needed to support nurses and other healthcare professionals in a variety of settings. Upon successful completion, students are eligible to take the state Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) exam and begin their careers in the healthcare field.
Nursing 101 is a one-year course is a beginning level certification for students interested in becoming a health care professional.
This course includes classroom, laboratory, and clinical experiences. Basic nursing assistant skills are presented and performed in nursing homes and hospital healthcare professions are also articulation credit at Heartland Community College or Lincolnland Community College.
Students will be required to purchase a uniform and clinical supplies for this class.
Students will have the opportunity to earn 8 hours of college credit through Heartland Community College.
There is an $80 fee (plus the cost of uniform and clinical supplies) for this course.
Students must not miss any more than 10 days of class. There are no excused absences per the requirements of the Illinois Health Department.
Students must maintain a 82.5% in the class at the mid-term and on the final in order to be allowed to take the CNA certification test.
