5 Important Tips From Mr. Lemaire
-- Get your GPA off to a good start. It starts building day one when opportunities present themselves later. The first part of getting this right is showing up and being present in class. Work hard in the first 9-weeks to get the best grade possible to get off to a good start. Be sure to keep up with your current grades in student portal as well as transcript grades. As you approach adulthood, show your responsibility by checking to make sure everything is turned in.

-- Take advantage of resources we have. We have dedicated webpages to help students. Just look under the tab called "Useful Websites."
-- Stay connected. Monitor your google classroom for your anticipated graduation date. Monitor student portal. All students have a student portal account where they can monitor their grades and progress. Parents get notifications from parents square and make sure your parents information is up to date. We also have an official Facebook and Instagram page to find out announcements. Please refer to the AHS Website for teacher/staff directory and resources throughout the school year.
-- Don't be afraid to ask for help. Teachers often say "If you don't speak up, I don't know that you need help." That is true. It takes courage to ask, but the answer can be rewarding and beneficial. The same goes true for your counselors. Counselors are here to help. We want to see every student succeed and overcome obstacles. Whether it's current issue, an ongoing challenge or a concern for the future, counselors want to support you. If there's something we can do to help, let us know and if it's possible we'll do our best to be there for you and assist in ways that we can. We want students to be able to achieve their potential, but often that starts with asking for help.

I have served as a school counselor here since 2012. One of my greatest joys is seeing students realize that possibilities after high school are within their reach.
I have attended LSU-Eunice, McNeese State University and the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. I believe in the importance of students finding the right post-secondary education route for them. Whether it's at a University, Community College, Military service or just specialized on the job training finding the best option for each person is important.
