Every month, each instructor chooses one art student to be showcased on this website. These artists have displayed dedication and determination on their recent works of art, and should be commended on their efforts!
APRIL ARTISTS
Laura Casey
Grade 10
Laura was one of Art show winners this past month. Laura is a very dedicated student who takes pride in her Ceramics projects she creates. Laura's projects always has solid craftsmanship and is a pleasure to have in class. Laura was asked what art means to her and she stated that Art is a way to escape everything and be anything you want to be
MARCH ARTISTS
Emily Hughes
Grade 12
Emily has demonstrated a very high level of artist talent throughout her four years in the Art department at KHS! She is not afraid to experiment with new materials or mix media. Emily always comes up with creative solutions and is an artistic problem solver. She has created some very unique pieces that show her level of skill and expertise in a variety of media.
Quin Maurin
Grade 12
Quin is a very creative and original young artist who expresses
his feelings through his artwork. He considers Art to be an escape, along with music, skateboarding, snowboarding, and surfing.
Quin was one of the top 10 finalists for the KHS Senior Art Scholarship and was deemed as the "Most Creative" candidate by our judge. Well known graffiti artist "Banksy" is a true inspiration to Quin and he has based many pieces on Banksy's work.
Quin has a goal of moving somewhere warmer where he can "just live freely". Congratulations to Quin for the hard work and passion he puts into his artwork!
Abby Pendergast
Grade 12
Abby has taken 3D Art in the past and is currently in Ceramics. Some of Abby's interests include photography, horseback riding, knitting, volleyball, and track. Abby is one of those art students who is always in the art room due to her passion for her projects. A side note is that Abby will break out with hives when dealing with clay. As an art instructor, this shows how dedicated Abby is when dealing with her ceramic projects. Awesome Job Abby!
Kali Desorcy
Grade 11
Kali is a very talented painter who excels in her Watercolor and Oil Painting classes. She is an Art Club officer and has taken 5 different art classes (so far). Kali is a very creative and skilled artist who does an exceptional job in realistic renderings of people. She received an Honorable Mention in the Scholastic Art Competition for a cut paper composition. Kali has two sisters and is the daughter of Kurt and Lori. Congratulations to Kali!
FEBRUARY ARTISTS
Molly Gilmour
Grade 12
Molly has demonstrated an exceptional amount of devotion and skill within a wide variety of medias this year. All of her projects are exemplary works of art which show off her artistic talent. Molly is planning on attending college and majoring in fine arts.
Erin Lang
Grade 12
Erin has been in an art course for three years now and has just completed the first course offering of CERAMICS 2. Erin is an art student who takes pride in her work and is very creative. In Erin's advance course she took on the challenge of creating a large vessel form that stands 28 inches tall. Erin is also actively involved Volleyball and Track. Her other interests include working on her new cabin on the lake, snow skiing, crafting, and maintaining a 4.3 gpa. Erin is the daughter of Matt and Kerry Lang. Congratulations to Erin!
Corey Reed
Grade 12
Corey is a hard-working young man who enjoys art because it gives him a chance to express himself. Working in the visual arts allows Corey to create things autonomously. Corey works with the challenges associated with Muscular Dystrophy. He has learned to be creative and use his problem-solving skills to find ways to help him (very) successfully paint and draw!
Corey is a member of the KHS Art Club and Car Club. He enjoys playing video games and is working hard to achieve the high rank of Eagle Scout in the Boys Scouts of America.
JANUARY ARTISTS
Haley Reinke
Grade 12
Haley is a very talented young artist who has put forth a lot of effort and hard work in the creation of her art pieces. She takes great pride in all that she does and has created some wonderful works of art this semester! Haley is also involved in track, soccer, and tennis at KHS. She takes part in clubs such as H.O.S.A, Art Club, Project Green, Promisemakers, and Ski Club. Her goal is to go to vet school and become a veterinarian.
Alaina Smith
Grade 11
Alaina is a hard working student that puts tons of time into her art creations. Creating original ideas and throwing on the pottery wheel are just a few things Alaina loves about her ceramic projects. Alaina also loves downhill skiing, watching movies, cooking and some day wants to be a Cake Decorator. Awesome Job Alaina with being selected as Artist of the Month!
Alyssa Krause
Grade 10
Alyssa is a focused and responsible young artist who puts great caring and thought into her work. She is versatile in her art abilities and does a great job in a wide range of media!
Outside of school, Alyssa is a figure skater with the Valley Figure Skating Club and hopes to land her axel jump sometime very soon!
