Every month, each instructor chooses one art student to be showcased on this website.
These talented artists have displayed dedication and determination on their recent works of art, and should be commended on their efforts!
Payton Chevalier Grade 9
Payton is currently in Mr. Greeninger's 3D Art course. Payton was selected by Mr. Greeninger for her hard work, creative ideas, quality craftsmanship, and being an awesome student. Even though Payton is only a ninth grader at KHS, she exemplifies a strong work ethic and pride in her art projects!
A little about Payton that is obvious by looking at her artwork below. Payton loves all things that deal with Disney. Below you can see Payton is in the process of making a cookie jar that will be a representation of the Disney castle. Also she has two of her ceramic mugs that deal with rides at Disney.
Along with Paytons love for Disney, she also is involved with Volleyball where she was on the Varsity team and KHS and is actively involved with Club also. Payton has a passion for dogs and loves to go shopping just like a typical teenager does. Payton enjoys doing funny stuff with her friends and family. A little know fact about Payton is that she loves to make tiktoks. (We might have to see what she can do during 3D Art, ha ha)
The Art Department is very proud of Payton and hopes that she continues her passion with the Arts!
Rachelle Navarro Grade 11
Rachelle Navarro was selected by Mrs. Schaefer as the artist of the month for February. She is currently in 2D Art. Rachelle is an outstanding role model for all students in the art department. She pushes herself every single day in class, and wants to see how far she can grow and what she is truly capable of. Art has also become such a wonderful form of expression for her, and many of her pieces contain a deep meaning and are transformational for her as a person, as well as for people that read what her work is about.
You will often find Rachelle in the art department outside of class time! It is a joy to see her creative ideas develop, as well as her skills and abilities continue to grow. She is a very kind, compassionate, and caring person!
Outside of class, Rachelle loves tennis, art, cooking and baking, going on road trips, and hanging out with friends. She plans to go to a four year college, and is unsure yet what exactly she plans to study. Keep up the excellent work Rachelle! We are all so proud of you!
Paige Laurent Grade 12
Paige is currently in Mrs. Wise's Senior Art class and took Watercolor class during first semester. She has been selected as a February Artist of the Month because of her dedication to her artwork. Paige is always willing to put extra time and effort into each assignment she is given. She will correct details over and over until it looks just right. As a result of her hard work, she has grown and developed her skills and creates beautiful pieces.
Paige's hobbies include running, singing, and fashion. She is a member of the KHS Track and Field team and KHS Choirs. Paige plans to attend Cosmetology School and earn her professional license in the future so she can apply her artistic skills to the aesthetics of Cosmetology.

Lauren Elliott Grade 11
Lauren is a part of Mrs. Schaefer’s 2D Art class, and has also taken Oil Painting first semester. She is an outstanding artist who is all about learning and pushing herself to grow. She is fearless when it comes to trying things, and seeing how it goes. It is obvious that she knows that THIS IS HOW WE LEARN, IMPROVE, AND GROW! She is a valuable member of class, and helps those around her to grow and excel as well. Lauren received a Gold Key this year in Scholastic arts as well! Lauren loves volleyball, softball, all mediums of art, playing the ukulele, and hanging out with her dog Hazel. She hopes to do something with art in her future, and we know she will excel in whatever path she chooses! We are very proud of you and your accomplishments Lauren!
Lydia Bernard Grade 11
Lydia is currently a member of Mr. Greeninger's Ceramic 1 course. Lydia has earned the artist of the month for December for her Hard Work, Creativity, Artistic Talent, and Dedication to her ceramic projects. Below you can view some of Lydia's ceramic projects. The image on the left is one that we submitted to the Milwaukee Scholastic Art competition and the image on the right is one of her plate designs.
If you stopped by the art room you would see Lydia working all times of the day. Lydia is the first person everyday starting to work on her art projects by 7am. Lydia will spend her lunch time and numerous days after school working on all her art projects. Lydia will give 110% effort on her projects and has meaning put into her ideas no matter what the art medium she uses. Lydia is always willing to better her skills and is willing to try new techniques.
Lydia is very interested in Art. Some of Lydia's hobbies include Art, Anime, Reading, and spending as much time in the art room. Lydia feels that the environment in the art room keeps her focused on task. A personal goal for Lydia is to increase her skill level in both Painting and Ceramics. A future goal is to have some of her art projects accepted into the Milwaukee Scholastic Art competition. Mr. G and the whole Art Department is very proud of Lydia. Job well done!
Alyssa Schultz Grade 12
Alyssa is a part of Mrs. Schaefer’s oil painting class. She was chosen as artist of the month for her dedication to what she does every day. She has a passion for art, and she chooses to create work that is very personal and meaningful to her life and experiences. Alyssa also is a very helpful and kind person to her peers. She is always uplifting to those around her, and she is a very helpful classmate.
Alyssa uses every minute of her class time to the fullest, and often times is in the classroom on her lunch break working hard on her pieces. She is a very intrinsically motivated individual, and works hard not for a grade, but because she wants to feel proud of her accomplishments and make things that she knows she did her absolute best on. This year Alyssa received an honorable mention on a painting she did.
Alyssa loves playing softball as well as being a part of the cross country team. Alyssa’s goal is to work in early childhood education because she loves working with children. Congratulations Alyssa! We are very proud of you!
Michelle Cramer Grade 09
Michelle is currently in Mrs. Wise's Intro to Art class and the KHS Art Club. She was selected as a December Artist of the Month because of her dedication and the care she puts into her artwork. Michelle has been drawing on her own for years and her teacher is very impressed by her mature understanding of what it takes to create successful artwork. She is very patient and puts in extra time and effort to be sure she creates work she can be proud of! Michelle's interests include reading, drawing, science, and Girl Scouts and we look forward to having her in our art classes for years to come!

Amelia Raddatz Grade 11
Amelia is currently a member of Mr. Greeninger's Ceramic 1 course. Amelia has worked extremely hard for the entire month of November. She could be scene in the art room during her lunch time and after school. Amelia's dedication has paid off as the images displayed below will be entered into the Milwaukee Scholastic Art Contest in January. Good luck to Amelia on these two outstand pieces.
Some of Amelia's interest include hiking, camping, kayaking with family and friends, going to concerts, traveling, and just hanging out with her friends. Amelia is a very personable student and has other hobbies which include bowling, band, and of course ART! A personal goal of Amelia is continue her art education experiences after high school. The Art Department is very proud of Amelia! Congrats again for being Mr. Greeninger's Artist of the Month for November
Janel Gilmore Grade 11
Janel Gilmore is currently a student in Mrs. Schaefer's oil painting class. She was chosen as artist of the month for November. Janel is a very dedicated, patient, motivated, and talented young lady. She has shown noticeable growth over the past couple years, and pushes herself in many ways. SHe continuously chooses more complex subject matter, and also finds meaning the reason why she is doing something. Janel enjoys drawing, painting, spending time with her family, and she is interested in psychology and track. Her personal goal in life is to be successful in whatever career path she chooses and to help others around her. Way to go Janel! We are all so proud of you!
Jackson Wahl Grade 11
Jackson is currently a member of Mrs. Wise's Art Abilities class. He was selected as a November Artist of the Month because of his dedication to developing himself as an artist. Jackson has strong artistic skills and always pays great attention to detail in his work. He is very patient and puts in extra time and effort to be sure he creates work he can be proud of!
Jackson likes painting and drawing- especially birds. He also enjoys watching movies and biking with his family as well as playing video games with his brother. Art Abilities is one of his favorite classes!

Taylor VanDerHorst Grade 11
Taylor is currently a member of Mr. Greeninger's Ceramic 1 course. Taylor is the daughter of Derek and Sara VanDerHorst. Taylor has been selected as the Artist of the Month for October for her hard work, dedication, artistic ability and awesome craftsmanship. During the month of October Taylor has been a regular working extra time in the art room. You could even see Taylor in on her lunch period working incredibly hard on her Ceramic projects.
Taylors interest include photography and ceramics. Taylor fell in love with Ceramics when she was in 3d Art and the rest is history.Some of Taylor's hobbies include scrapbooking, swimming, and ice skating. One of Taylor's personal goal is to get a piece accepted into the Scholastic Art Show in Milwaukee.
Taylor's plan after high school is to be an early childhood teacher. The Art Department is very proud of Taylor and wishes her success in all her endeavors. Great work Taylor!!! Below are some of her last projects created.
Morgan Welk Grade 12
Morgan is currently a member of Mrs Schaefer's oil painting class. She is the daughter of Richard and Trisha Welk. Morgan is an outstandingly positive young lady who is very motivated to develop her skills. Morgan works hard each day in class, and even when she is faced with extreme challenges in her work, she remains positive and looks at everything as a way to learn and improve! Morgan is kind to everyone in class, and is a natural spirit lifter to those around her. I will often hear her complimenting others work, and going out of her way to make others feel confident. Morgan loves art, and also loves to spend time with her family and friends. Her personal goal is to attend Marian College to start a career in art therapy. Congrats Morgan. Jasmyn Johnson Grade 12
Jasmyn is currently in both Mrs. Wise's Senior Art and Watercolor classes. She was selected as an October Artist of the Month because of how hard she works to improve herself as an artist. Jasmyn has always enjoyed her Art classes and she is very persistent in developing her drawings and paintings until she is satisfied with her results. She is very patient and puts in extra time and effort to be sure she creates work she can be proud of! Jasmyn's hobbies include drawing and writing and she hopes to get into a good school and find a job that she loves in her future.

DREW NEVEU Grade 12
Drew is currently a member of Mr. Greeninger's Ceramic 2 course. Drew has been part of the 3D / Ceramic world for three years at Kimberly High School. Drew was selected by Mr. Greeninger for her creative ideas, art show quality craftsmanship and a strong work ethic. If you stopped by the Ceramic room, you would see Drew not only during her class period, but also on her blocks off. This even includes her lunch hour!..
Some of Drew's interest include dancing and drawing in her free time. Drew plans to attend college and major in Pharmacy. Some favorite things Drew likes to do is hang out with friends and family and go to social events at high school. Drew is always willing to help out her peers when they have any questions. Lauren Leitner Grade 12
Lauren is currently a part of Mrs. Schaefer's Oil Painting course. She is a very positive role model for her peers and her work ethic and positive mindset are contagious to those around her. She uses her class time to the max each and every day, and never lets herself settle for anything less than her best. She is very kind to those around her, and goes out of her way to lift others, and bring out the confidence in them as they continue through their own paintings as well.
Lauren loves to be outdoors, spend time with her friends and family and also really enjoys softball. She plans to attend college next year to major in art and hopes to play softball at whichever college she chooses.
Kiya Schermitzler Grade 10
Kiya is currently a member of Mrs. Wise's Intro to Art class. She was selected as a September Artist of the Month because of her dedication to developing herself as an artist. Kiya has always enjoyed her Art classes and she pays great attention to detail in her work. She is very patient and puts in extra time and effort to be sure she creates work she can be proud of! Kiya is on the Board of Directors of the KHS Art Club and she loves being a member of the KHS Choir. She enjoys art of all kinds (especially Digital Art), singing, animals, biology, video games, and making people feel included and happy!
