Artists of the Month 2021- 2022

Every month, each instructor chooses one art student to be showcased on this website.

These talented artists have displayed dedication and determination on their recent works of art, and should be commended on their efforts!

SEPTEMBER ARTISTS

LYDIA STUMPF Grade 11

Lydia is currently part of Mr. Greeninger's Independent Ceramic Course. Lydia is one of those art students who is always challenging herself to be creative with her art projects. Lydia chose to continue creating Ceramic projects on her block off because she has the passion and love for Ceramics. Some current projects that Lydia has been working on are pictured below. The picture of the skull is a great example of how Lydia pays attention to details on her projects

Lydia is currently a Junior at Kimberly High School and was recognized as a National winner by the Scholastic Art Awards as a Sophomore. The Art Department is very proud of what Lydia has accomplished and looks forward to more exciting projects to come. Currently Lydia also participates in Golf and Softball for Kimberly. She loves to work out and go up north with her family when Lydia has any down time. Lydia does have some awesome goals and asperations to go to college and major in Psychology. Lydia also wants to play college softball. Congrats to Lydia!


Rachel Tank Grade 11

Rachel is currently in Mrs. Schaefer’s 2D Art Class. Rachel is an outstanding person and artist. On numerous occasions I have witnessed her go out of her way to be kind to her peers, encourage them in their artwork, and overall just keeps a remarkably positive attitude.

Rachel is involved in school, and pushes herself to take challenging courses. She also loves dancing and shopping. She loves art, and has been doing art on her own outside of school for a while. One of her personal goals is to always be hardworking and to push herself to see what she is capable of.

We are very proud of you in the art department! Keep pushing yourself to reach your goals, and creating work that you are proud of and keep inspiring those around you!

Sydney Neveu Grade 11

Sydney is currently in Mrs. Wise's Intro to Art class and she serves as a volunteer in the Art department as well. Sydney never really had a passion for Art, but after finally taking an Art class at KHS, she has a real appreciation for making Art. She has strong skills that she didn't know she had. Sydney is a very hard worker. She is focused and always accomplishes a lot in whatever she is working on. A Still Life Drawing and a page from her Art Journal are pictured below.

Sydney is a member of the KHS Bowling team and she takes dance lessons at Footworks Dance Company. She is not sure what her long term plans are, but she knows she has time before she needs to decide. The Art Department is very proud of what Sydney has accomplished and we hope she will continue to learn more about Art in the future!

OCTOBER ARTISTS

Julie Feyen Grade 11

Julie is currently in Mrs. Wise's Intro to Art class and she has been an active member of the KHS Art Club as well. Julie enjoys drawing, reading, playing her clarinet, and doing Brain Teasers. Julie has very strong art skills and she is a hard worker. She is focused and always accomplishes a lot in whatever she is working on. A Still Life Drawing and a page from her Art Journal are pictured below.

In addition to Art Club, Julie is a member of the KHS Math Club, Key Club, and Chess Club. She would like to go to college and pursue a career in engineering. The Art Department is very proud of what Julie has accomplished and we hope she will continue to learn more about Art in the future!


DECEMBER ARTISTS

JAYDA NELSON Grade 11

Jayda is currently a member of Mr. Greeninger's Ceramics course and has been selected as December's Artist of the Month for her hard work and dedication to her Ceramic projects. A couple outstanding attributes that Jayda has is the pride she takes in her projects and the incredible craftsmanship and attention to details.

Jayda is involved at Kimberly High School as a Student Council member, manager for the Volleyball team, and participates in Softball. Jayda is a very strong academic student who wants to pursue an Engineer degree in college. Jayda has not decided on where she wants to go but knows she does want to play Softball at the collegiate level.

In Jayda's free time she loves to draw and hanging out with family and friends. On the weekends she enjoys going "Thrifting" and seeking out those great deals. Jayda has just recently learned how to cross-stitch!

Below are some images that Jayda has created in her Ceramics course. The pitcher below has been submitted into the Milwaukee Scholastic Art Show and we are waiting to hear the results of that project. The Art Department wants to thank Jayda on being Artist of the Month and know we are very proud of her!


Sam Harke Grade 11

Sam is currently a part of Mrs. Schaefer's 2D Art Class. She is an outstanding artist and person. It is very evident that Sam puts 100% into everything she does. It is easy to see that Sam cares about seeing her true potential in anything she does. She is a joy to have as an art student, and is very inspiring to those around her!

I am continuously amazed with the challenging subject matter that Sam chooses to create, and also with the level of dedication and time she puts into her work as well.

Sam is interested in running, and currently is a part of the cross country and track teams at KHS. She loves art, hiking, and spending time with friends and family. In the future, Sam wants to travel the world, and have a job that she loves and can help others in. She hopes to have her own family in the future also. Congratulations Sam! We are so proud of you!

Cee Tucker Grade 10

Cee is currently in Mrs. Wise's Intro to Art class and they have a very strong interest in Art and Art History. Cee creates art to help them express feelings and cope with challenges as they come. In their free time, Cee enjoys drawing, reading, and practicing the Wiccan religion. Cee loves to be busy and their hands have to be busy at all times! Cee is always doodling on notebooks and folders and they would like to go out in nature and do pleine aire painting. Cee would like to study Art Education and become and Art Teacher someday so that they can inspire students to truly be themselves. The Art Department is very proud of what Cee's meaningful work and we look forward to seeing what they will accomplish in Art in the future!


FEBRUARY ARTISTS

Audra Zeuske Grade 11

Audra is currently a part of Mrs. Schaefer's Advanced 2D Concepts class, as well as an independent study. She has taken several art courses through her years at KHS, and has a sincere passion for art of all kinds. Audra pushes herself greatly when working on her art, and will find ways to challenge herself and continue to grow her skills and see what she is capable of. Her intrinsic motivation is very admirable, and she chooses to BE MOTIVATED each day on her own because she wants to be here and do her best. She is an inspiration to her peers.

This year, I have witnessed Audra create very personal pieces for others as gifts, as well as complete other pieces as commissioned works. She will happily take on a challenge, and regardless of the difficulty level, she pushes herself to see what she can do.

Audra loves art, and enjoys playing the piano and spending time with friends and family. She has goals to travel the world and hopes to graduate college someday with a degree in studio art and psychology.

Keep up the great work Audra, we are so proud of you!


Emma Gunckel Grade 11

Emma is currently in Mr. Greeninger's 3D Art class and has been doing an outstanding job in her Ceramic Unit. Currently Emma has created two cylinders on the pottery wheel and a hand built Cookie Jar that is pictured below. Emma is one of those students who takes responsibility for her projects and will come in during her limited spare time to make sure her project is done right.

Some interests that Emma has include Math, Astronomy, and obviously the Arts. Emma currently holds down a job at Urban Air Adventures Park while maintaining awesome grades at Kimberly High School. Two activities Emma is involved with at the high school is National Honors Society and is a member of the student advisory board for Life Force. When Emma is not working on her school work or involved in her activities, Emma enjoys reading and playing tennis.

A personal goal for Emma is to pursue mechanical engineering with an emphasis in aerospace engineering at UW-Madison. Seeing her work ethic in her 3D Art class, this should not be a problem for Emma. The Art Department is very proud to have Emma Gunckel as our Artist of Month for February

Rebecca Schank Grade 12

Becky is currently in Mrs. Wise's Senior Art class. Here, at KHS, Becky is involved with HOSA, DECA, and Link Crew. She enjoys Science, Karate, and playing the guitar and the piano. Becky has very strong art skills and she is a hard worker. She is focused and always accomplishes a lot in whatever she is working on. A graphite drawing of her dog and an acrylic painting of sunflowers are pictured below.

After graduation, Becky will attend Purdue University, where she will study Biomedical Engineering. The Art Department is very proud of what Becky has accomplished and we hope she will continue to learn more about Art in the future!

MARCH ARTISTS

Elizabeth Ritger Grade 12

Liz is currently in Mrs. Wise's Senior Art class. She enjoys making art, crocheting, thrifting, listening to music, and spending time with her family and friends. Liz loves visiting Indie record stores and locally owned cafes. She is a huge Taylor Swift fan, as shown in her large glass mosaic piece shown below. (She also loves Harry Styles and Conan Gray.) A white charcoal drawing of her dog is also pictured below.

Liz is a very hard worker and she always puts great care and attention into her work, helping her to create great pieces. She will be attending UW- Milwaukee next year, where she will major in Kinesiology. The Art Department is very proud of the work Liz has created and we hope she will continue to learn more about Art in the future!
