Artist of the Month 2014- 2015

Every month, each instructor chooses one art student to be showcased on this website. These artists have displayed dedication and determination on their recent works of art, and should be commended on their efforts!

MARCH ARTISTS

Stephanie Rink Grade 12

Stephanie has been picked as an artist of the month for March by Mrs. Wise. She has strong natural artistic skills and has put a lot of extra time and care into her artwork. The results are wonderful! She creates work that is personal as well as technically sound. Creating art helps Stephanie relax and express herself.

Stephanie is a runner who will run her third half-marathon in May. Her favorite activities include drawing and painting as well as watching Netflix (when she finds the time). Stephanie will attend UW-Madison in the fall.

We congratulate Stephanie and hope she will continue to create great art throughout her life!

Molly Stiltjes Grade 10

Molly has been chosen as March artist of the month in her 3D Art class by Mr. Greeninger. Molly is a very hard worker in her 3D Art course. Many of Molly's projects have been very creative and challenging. Molly is the type of student to put in many hours outside of the class and her projects show a tremendous amount of pride. One of Molly's projects that she worked very hard on is pictures below. The image is of her Tea Pot she created out of coils with a unique use of a spout as a snakes head.

Molly has many interest not only in her 3D Art class but loves plays, reading, and writing. One of Molly's goals is to become a veterinarian in Montana. Molly also loves the piano and guitar. Congrats to Molly as artist of the month for March. The Art Department is very proud to have you as an art student

Emily Schroeder Grade 12

Emily has been chosen as March artist of the month in her 2D Art class by Mrs. Schaefer. Emily has taken art classes for the first time her senior year, and has really discovered a new love for art. She had no idea the talent and abilities that were within her until she began to unveil her artistic side in both her Senior Art and 2D art classes! Emily is a very hard working student and truly challenges herself by using her own photographs for her artwork, as well as choosing ideas that are very challenging and above and beyond what is required for class. Emily loves painting, writing, poetry, volunteering and being active in her church youth group and missions. She loves working with children, and hopes to continue working with children as she pursues her education. She hopes to graduate from college and someday see Australia! Excellent job Emily, we are all proud of you!

FEBRUARY ARTISTS

Nelly Wata Grade 11

Nelly has been chosen as February artist of the month in her Computer Art class by Mrs. Schaefer. Nelly shows a very strong artistic eye when creating visual designs using Photoshop. Nelly is currently a foreign exchange student from the Philippians, and she has a great attitude and personality and has made a lot of friends! Nelly works very hard to do her best on all of her projects and has adapted amazingly to an entirely new culture, and has really been a wonderful example to the rest of the class in so many ways. Nelly loves music, singing, sketching and writing. She also loves to read and volunteer and work with students with special needs. She hopes to go to Europe with her friends and wants to be a doctor. She hopes to return to Wisconsin to visit after her school year here ends. Excellent job Nelly! We are proud of you!

Kaarina Powell Grade 10

Kaarina has been chosen by Mr. Greeninger as his Artist of the Month for February. Kaarina is an outstanding student who puts in a tremendous amount of extra time in her art projects. Kaarina is one of those art students who really will challenge herself with the difficulty and creative process.

Some of the areas of interest for Kaarina includes Art of course, music, science, and theatre. When Kaarina finds some free time she enjoys origami. A goal that Kaarina has is to have a job in the medical field where she gets to help people. The Art Department is proud to have Kaarina as an art student and looks forward to what her future holds as Kaarina is only a sophomore!

Linda Her Grade 12

Linda has taken several Art classes at KHS and Mrs. Wise has chosen her as a February Artist of the Month. Linda is a hard worker who strives to improve her techniques and skills on each project she creates. Her hard work has definitely paid off! Linda enjoys drawing and painting, focusing especially on portraiture. Her favorite subjects are often her friends and family and her favorite mediums are pencil or charcoal. Linda loves Watercolor for portraits and Oil or Acrylic for landscapes.

Art is Linda's biggest hobby. She would like to attend UW- Madison or UW-Stevens Point after graduation. Linda is interested in becoming an Art Teacher so she can combine her loves for art and teaching others.

JANUARY ARTISTS

Nicole Treichel Grade 12

Nicole is currently in Mr. Greeninger's Ceramic class and has worked very hard in getting her projects done for the Scholastic Art Show. The 2 images below are projects she has created and were entered into the Art Show. One impressive fact was the time Nicole committed outside of class to create her ceramic art projects.

Nicole enjoys painting, drawing, and creating most anything that is creative. Nicole works two jobs and still found time to put in extra time in her art projects. One of Nicole's interest is in personal finance and plans to attend UW Fox for two years, then finish up at UW Whitewater. The Art Department is very proud of Nicole. Thanks for doing an outstanding job and being Artist of the Month for Mr. Greeninger!

Mya Freund Grade 11

Mya was chosen as the artist of the month for January by Mrs. Schaefer. Mya is a very talented artist, and puts a lot of time and effort into making meaningful art that is original. Mya works hard to convey messages and meaning to her audience, always leaving something for the viewer to take away from the experience of viewing her art. Mya spends a lot of time inside and outside of class to ensure that all of her paintings are done to the best of her ability. Mya's hobbies include reading, painting, hula hooping, bike riding, adventuring and reading. A personal goal of Mya's is to figure out more about her future and discover herself and prepare for her future and her career.

Andrew Sirois Grade 12

Andrew has been picked as an artist of the month for January by Mrs. Wise. He is incredibly dedicated and has strong natural artistic skills. Andrew puts in the extra time and care necessary to turn out technically detailed art pieces every time! He pays very close attention to all aspects of an image and takes great care to represent all that he sees. Art is a wonderful way for Andrew to relax and unwind.

Andrew plays soccer and video games and he enjoys drawing, volunteering, and shoes (he works at Rogan's). After graduating from college, Andrew plans to become a Physicians Assistant, specializing in orthopedics or sports medicine.

We congratulate Andrew and hope he will continue to create art throughout his life!

DECEMBER ARTISTS

Colleen Yang Grade 12

Colleen was chosen as artist of the month by Mrs. Schaefer for the month of December. She is a very talented individual who is always up for a challenge and never settles for anything less than her best; all teachers that know Colleen would probably say the same. Colleen is a highly motivated individual who has a huge heart. It is very clear that helping people is something that Colleen find a great passion within and much of her artwork as well as activities in and out of school involve helping other people. Colleen's hobbies include creating art, listening to music, playing volleyball with her youth group, and taking pictures of nature or anything else that catches her eye. Colleen's goals for her future include going to Alverno College to major in something art related. She hopes to spread her love for art and travel to do mission work in other countries to inspire other people. The art department is very proud of you Colleen, and we wish you all the best in your future endeavors!

Joebert Bierman Grade 12

Joebert is a member of Mrs. Wise's Senior Art class who is also doing an Independent Study in art this term. He has been chosen as a December Student of the Month because of how hard he works to improve his drawing skills with every piece he creates. Joebert strives to realistically portray his friends and others through his portrait work.

Joebert's interests include drawing, playing tennis, and watching T.V. shows. He recently travelled to the Philippines and hopes to travel often throughout his future. Joebert plans to have a career in the fashion industry and will pursue an education that will prepare him for it.

The KHS Art Department would like to congratulate Joebert on his great work in Art!

NOVEMBER ARTISTS

Kyle Gietman Grade 10

Kyle is currently in Mrs. Schaefer's Oil Painting class and was selected at one of the artists of the month for November. Kyle is a very naturally gifted artist, and has shown a great deal of growth since his freshman year. Kyle has always been naturally gifted, but this year he has begun to really make his art pieces more personal with meaning behind why he is painting them. He has also started to use more of his own photographs as references for his paintings! Kyle loves to hunt , snowboard, sketch and paint. His personal goal for his future is get a degree involving art so he can continue to focus on his passion for art in his career.

Shelbi Seefeldt Grade 11

Shelbi is currently in Mr. Greeninger's Ceramic 1 course and has earned the honors of Artisit of the Month for November. Shelbi is an outstanding and very creative art student. Shelbi's work ethic and dedication to her art projects have been awesome for the entire month of November. I know this will continue for the duration of the second quarter. Below are some images of projects Shelbi has worked on in November in her Ceramics course.

Shelbi has been interested in Art since her freshman year when she started out in 3D Art. Shelbi really enjoys ceramics and working with clay. Another interest of Shelbi is her involvement in the theater and choir at Kimberly High School. Shelbi's personal art goal is to get a piece displayed in the Milwaukee Art Show this year. Good Luck Shelbi! Thanks for being a great art student. The art department is very proud of you!

Becca O'Bright Grade 12

Becca is currently a member of Mrs. Wise's Senior Art class. She has been chosen as a November Student of the Month because she is incredibly dedicated and has strong natural artistic skills. On each project she is presented with, Becca puts in the extra time and care necessary to turn out technically sound art pieces every time!

Becca's interests include drawing, writing, watching Anime', and reading. She especially enjoys "Harry Potter", "The Hobbit", and "Lord of the Rings". Below, we have posted her large graphite drawing of the author- J.R.R. Tolkien. Becca enjoys playing soccer and bowling and she will be studying Crime Scene Investigation in the fall at Fox Valley Technical Institute.

OCTOBER ARTISTS

Karlee Louthain Grade 10

karlee was selected by Mr. Greeninger as artist of the month for October. Karlee is a soph at KHS and is currently in Ceramics. Karlee has been working very hard on all of her Ceramic projects the whole first term. The art department is very happy to have an art student like Karlee. Last month Karlee was a regular in putting in more time during her lunch or after school. Karlee's dedication to her projects really set her apart from her peers. Some of Karlee's interest include drawing and her love for Art!. Karlee's personal goal is to go to college and become an Art teacher. I know I speak for the whole Art department and love her personal goal! Good Luck Karlee!

Alexandra Reimer Grade 12

Alexandra was selected by Mrs. Schaefer as artist of the month for October. Alexandra is a senior at KHS and is currently in oil painting. She is a very talented art student, and has taken a variety of art courses. Alexandra has an obvious passion for art that all who know her can clearly see. She is sure to always connect a very personal meaning or memory to her artwork and pushes herself more than most students at a high school level do to create detailed, high quality, challenging paintings. Alex says art is something she has truly enjoyed since elementary school, and she hopes to attend college next year to pursue her passion for art and become an art teacher!

Alexandra also enjoys playing the piano, spending time outdoors fishing, camping, swimming and also traveling. Keep up the fantastic, inspirational work! We are all very proud of you!

Oil Painting

Hailey Buss Grade 11

Hailey was in Mrs. Wise's Watercolor Painting class first term and has been chosen as an October Artist of the Month. Hailey is a hard worker who is very focused when it comes to her artwork. She strives to improve her techniques and skills on each project she creates and her diligence pays off!

Hailey truly enjoys creating art and music. She is a member of the KHS band, Student Council, and the Girls' Golf Team. When she heads to college, Hailey plans to study something related to Art.

SEPTEMBER ARTISTS

Charlie Biolo Grade 10

Charlie is an outstanding art student who puts a great deal of care, effort, and craftsmanship into his paintings. He is currently in Oil Painting with Mrs. Schaefer. Charlie often works outside of class time, goes beyond assignment requirements, and is a great leader in class. Most of his paintings are inspired by his own photos he brings in from home, so his paintings have meaning to him and are more personal. Charlies has also been commissioned by family members to create paintings outside of school!

Charlie is very involved in sports, and especially loves football and track. In his free time he loves to spend time with his friends, and also enjoys painting and drawing. After high school he hopes to attend college and become an engineer! Keep up the great work Charlie! We are all very proud of you and your accomplishments!

Amber Chevalier Grade 10

Amber is a very talented young artist who takes pride in her artwork. Amber's work ethic, craftsmanship, and dedication to her ceramic projects have earned her Artist of the Month by Mr. Greeninger. Amber is one of the art students who will put time in outside of her class block. Art students like Amber are hard to come by and is very much appreciated.

A little information about Amber is that she is involved with Volleyball and Track at Kimberly High School. Some of Amber's hobbies include Drawing, Painting, and Music. Amber does have a personal goal to someday pursue a career in art or child care. After seeing her work ethic, this should not be a problem for Amber! The art department is very proud to have Amber as our Artist of the Month for September. Keep up the great work Amber!

Isabella Cuomo Grade 12

Izzy has been chosen as a September Art Student of the Month. She has taken several art courses at KHS, including A.P. Art History and has shown very serious dedication to learning about and creating art. Izzy is currently a member of Mrs. Wise's Senior Art class and she consistently chooses very challenging projects and puts in extra time and effort to do high quality work on every piece she creates.

Izzy enjoys running, collecting stickers, and creating things with a wide range of media, such as embroidery, origami, crochet, and more. We would like to congratulate Isabella on her excellent work in the KHS Art Department!
