These artists have displayed dedication and determination on their recent works of art,
and should be commended on their efforts!
MAY ARTISTS
Shannon Hacka Grade 10
Shannon has been chosen as a May artist of the month. She is in Mrs. Schaefer's 2D art class this semester and has worked very hard all semester. Shannon has a natural ability to think outside the box and try something new. She loves to use her own ideas that are different and unique than what has been done in the past. She has a great interest in art, and loves experimenting with a variety of media. Shannon's personal goal is to always see the positive side of things. She has always wanted to be an art teacher, and hopes to follow through with that goal as she continues through high school and college someday.

Josie Greeninger Grade 12
Josie is in Mrs. Wise's Senior Art class this semester and has been chosen as a May Artist of the Month. Josie is a hard worker who is very focused when it comes to her artwork. She strives to improve her techniques and skills on each project she creates and her diligence pays off! One of her ceramic pieces
(a beautiful, large vase) earned the Gold Key Scholastic Art Award this year in the competition at the Milwaukee Art Museum!
Josie is very involved at KHS and enjoys playing piano and running track. She will study Speech Pathology at college, in the fall.

APRIL ARTISTS
Cole Robinson Grade 12
Cole has been chosen as an April Student of the Month. He is a member of Mrs. Wise's Senior Art class this semester and has shown serious dedication to learning about and creating art. Cole consistently chooses very challenging projects and puts in extra time and effort to do high quality work on every piece he creates. He says he wishes he had taken more art classes during his time at KHS! Hopefully, he will continue to create art during college and throughout his future.
Cole will be attending UW-Stout, where he will study Manufacture Engineering and run cross-country and track. He enjoys playing guitar and writing music, as well as running. We would like to congratulate Cole on his excellent work in the KHS Art Department! We wish you the best in college, Cole!
Sarah King Grade 12
Sarah was selected by Mrs. Schaefer as artist of the month for April. She is currently in Mrs. Schaefer's 3D Art 2 class, as well as 2D art. Sarah puts forth a great deal of effort into every piece she creates. She also spends time outside of class working on paintings and drawings, and is very passionate about the arts.
Not only is Sarah a hard working artist, she is also a very kind person who will go above and beyond to help others and make them feel successful. Sarah has an incredible work ethic and never wastes a minute of class time. She is a very motivated, busy young lady who works many hours and her job outside of school, and still manages to give it her all when she is here and never settles for less than her best.
Sarah will be venturing to Australia this August on her own after graduation, and is very excited to experience new adventures. She is all about making the most out of her time and living her life to the fullest!

Spencer Hoffman Grade 10
Spencer is a very young talented artist who has been doing an outstanding job in his Ceramics artwork. Spencer's work ethic and quality of his ceramic projects have earned him Artist of the Month by Mr. Greeninger.
Spencer enjoys most everything that goes with the outdoors. Some of the areas of interest in art include his ceramics and drawing abstract forms. One area of interest Spencer really enjoys in the academic field is American History. When Spence is not working on his art projects he enjoys time playing video games. Like most kids his age, he really likes the game Call of Duty
The art department is very proud of what Spencer has produced this year and is only a tenth grader. We really look forward to what he will become as an artist by his senior year. A major strength besides Spencer's work ethic is his craftsmanship. Spencer always pays attention to detail and takes pride in his end product. Again, the art department is very proud of what you have done and what you will be doing in the future! Congrats Spencer!
MARCH ARTISTS
Kinley Hammatt
Kinley is currently in Mrs. Schaefer's 2D art class. She has been chosen for artist of the month for March. Kinley is only a freshman, and a very talented student in all media that we have used so far. It is very exciting to know that at such a young age she has already accomplished so much, and has three more years to amaze us! Her strengths are in painting and drawing, and she has a great ability to capture emotion and details in her artwork. She has a strong desire to produce original work, which means she does not copy work she sees elsewhere, instead creates her own ideas and works from her own photographs. She works very hard to achieve her absolute best work on each project she completes. She often takes her work home or comes in after school to put in extra hours to produce top notch quality work.
Some of Kinley's interests include art, music, movies, English, orchestra, photography, animals and nature. She hopes to attend a four year college and major in Art and English. We are very proud of you in the art department Kinley!
Abby Mohnen Grade 11
Abby is currently a member of Mrs. Wise's Intro to Art class. She has been chosen as a March Student of the Month because she is incredibly creative, has strong natural artistic skills, and a great passion for art. Her ideas are original and very interesting to the viewer. She finds a way to put her unique twist on each project she is presented with and puts in the time and care necessary to turn out technically sound art pieces every time.
Abby has always been interested in art- whether it be drawing, writing, singing, or simply "doodling on the sides of math tests." She works on art as a form of relaxation and to ground her. Her goal is "never to be too busy in life that (she) forgets what means the most to her: Creativity".
We wish Abby the very best in her creative future!
FEBRUARY ARTISTS
Briana Petersen Grade 11
Briana is currently in Mr. Greeninger's Ceramic course and has been chosen as artist of the month for February. Briana's strong work ethic and dedication in all of her ceramic projects are what sets her apart from others. Briana is a very hard working student that commits extra hours into her ceramic art projects. You will find Briana working through her lunch period as well as time after school. Most of Briana's work include impressive craftsmanship, creative attention to detail, and a high level of difficulty.
Some of Briana's interest include Track where she participates in the 200 yard dash and Long Jump. Briana also volunteers at a local animal shelter where she helps out with many of the needs at the shelter. Other interests for Briana include hanging out with her friends and she is also an avid photographer. The art department is very proud of what Briana has accomplished in Ceramics so far and would like to congratulate her on being Artist of the Month for February! Keep up the great work!!! Josie Hansen Grade 11
Josie is currently in Computer Art with Mrs. Schaefer as well as Intro to Art with Mrs. Wise. She was chosen by Mrs. Schaefer as artist of the month for February for her strong exemplary skills in Computer Art. She is a very hard working student who is motivated to excel and truly work up to her highest potential. In computer art, Josie has developed a strong interest in using the extensive program for all that it offers. Often times, Josie is going above and beyond the requirements for class assignments, and using more of the features that she has discovered on her own. Josie also has excellent drawing skills which directly translates to her knowledge and creative eye when designing and editing images in photoshop. She can clearly understand value, focal point, balancing a well thought out composition, as well as captivating her audience by often times involving them in the artwork in a creative way with the words or images she chooses to use.
Josie hopes to attend Fox Valley Technical College after high school to enter into their culinary arts program. She has a sincere love for cooking and baking, as well as reading, traveling, swimming, rugby and of course- ART! She is an awesome student, and very kind and charismatic person who is a natural leader. Congratulations to Josie on behalf of the art department! We are very proud of her accomplishments!
Samantha Mahoney Grade 12
Samantha is a member of Mrs. Wise's Intro to Art class and has been chosen as a February Student of the Month. She has very strong observational drawing skills and a wonderful, creative imagination. Sam's drawings are very detailed and she has a distinct style that makes her artwork aesthetically pleasing. She puts a lot of time and energy into her artwork and intends to pursue a career in the visual arts someday.
Sam enjoys music of all kinds, animated films and television shows, comics/graphic novels, nature, photography, video games, science, and psychology. She serves as the secretary for the KHS Art Club and has been involved in school theatrical productions. In the future, Samantha intends to work in the realm of animation so she can use her artistic abilities to inspire people. She also hopes to create and produce a TV show with Brooke, "the most awesome sister in the world".

JANUARY ARTISTS
Anthony Liotta Grade 12
Anthony was chosen art artist of the month by Mrs. Schaefer for the month of January. It has been an honor to work with him this past semester. He has put so much effort into his drawings and paintings, and excelled in everything he did. As a 'first time art student', Anthony worked so hard and had a lot of success with very little prior experience! Anthony is also an excellent role model for others with his work ethic and kindness. He always goes out of his way to make other students feel good about themselves. Some of Anthony's hobbies include: working out and being active, working on cars, and landscape painting. Anthony's goal is to go to UW-Stout to become packaging engineer! Congratulations Anthony, and best wishes in your future!
Emma Simon Grade 9
Emma has an incredibly creative imagination that shines though in everything she creates. She has a passion for art and works hard to build her technical skills as she creates. Though she is still a freshman, Emma has a mature understanding of how important it is for art to have meaning. There is deep meaning in almost everything Emma creates! It will be exciting to follow Emma's high school art career over the next few years as she grows as an artist.
Emma's interests and hobbies include drawing, costuming, writing, jewelry-making, and sewing. In the future, she hopes to become a storyboard artist at Dreamworks Studios.
Congratulations to Emma for doing such terrific work! The KHS art instructors are proud of you.
DECEMBER ARTISTS
Megan Kleist Grade 11
Megan has been selected by Mr. Greeninger as artist of the month for December. Megan goes above and beyond the call of duty when working on her art projects as she is scene waiting outside the art room at 7am. Megan exemplifies the hard work and dedication it takes to be a quality artist. Some of Megan's interest include playing softball, being around animals, and enjoys baking. This year Megan created multiple projects that were entered into the 2014 Scholastic Art show in Milwaukee. Megan was awarded a state recognition honorable mention for her sculpture of a sea turtle (see below). Megan also has a verbal commitment to Oregon University to play softball. Job well done Megan! The art department is proud of you!
Erin Van Handel Grade 12
Erin has been selected by Mrs. Schaefer as artist of the month for December. Erin is a very talented art student who truly works her hardest on everything she does. She chooses to complete projects that may take much longer than required for the assignment and always works to her highest potential. As her teacher, it is very rewarding and enjoyable to see a student so motivated to do her best! Erin enjoys English, Art, martial arts, dance, snow skiing, photography, spending time with her friends, and meeting new people. She hopes to attend college and get her masters degree and become a speech language pathologist. Congratulations Erin! We are all proud of you in the art department! :)
Reagan Fischer Grade 9
Reagan is a member of Mrs. Wise's Intro to Art class and has been chosen as a December Student of the Month. Reagan works hard to do her very best on every piece of work she creates. She has strong observational drawing skills as well as a creative imagination. These skills have helped her have a great start on her high school art career!
Reagan loves drawing portraits of famous people as well as acting. She is involved in theatre and would like to, someday, move to Los Angeles, where she would like to pursue a career in acting. We would like to congratulate Reagan on her wonderful work in the KHS Art Department! Keep up the great work, Reagan.
NOVEMBER ARTISTS
Rachel Bath Grade 12
Rachel has been selected by Mr. Greeninger as artist of the month for November. Rachel is a very strong art student with the passion to be excellent. Rachel takes tremendous pride in her art work and puts in the time needed to produce quality projects. As an art instructor, it is exciting to have a highly motivated art student like Rachel. Some of Rachel's hobbies include photography, photo editing, and drawing. Rachel also actively participates in theater and dance. Rachel's long term goal is to attend Arizona State University with a major in Graphic Design. The whole art department would like to congratulate Rachel as November's Artist of the Month!
Bre Nichols Grade 12
Bre has been selected by Mrs. Schaefer as artist of the month for November. Bre was selected because she is a very dedicated art student who uses art as a true form of expression. Often times her artwork will convey an emotion or life experience that expresses who she is as a person. Bre is an extremely kind individual who cares very much for other people, and this is very noticed by those around her. Her genuine warmth is contagious! As Bre prepares for life after high school, she hopes for art to continue to be a significant part of her life. She loves painting, drawing, and digital arts! She hopes to study graphic arts in college. Congrats on your accomplishments Bre!
Natalie Carney Grade 12
Natalie has been chosen as a November Student of the Month. She is a member of Mrs. Wise's Senior Art class this semester. Natalie has an incredible work ethic and does whatever it takes to do her very best in art class- which often includes staying after school and taking projects home to work on them. She challenges herself with involved projects that take a lot of work to complete.
Natalie plans to attend St. Norbert College, where she will study to become a Spanish teacher. She enjoys photography, ceramics, and volunteering within the community. We would like to congratulate Natalie on her wonderful work in the KHS Art Department! Keep up the great work, Natalie.

Alexandra Reimer Grade 11
Alexandra has been selected by Mr. Greeninger as his Artist of the Month. Alexandra was selected due to her creative ideas she has put into her ceramic art projects this whole first quarter. Alexandra's craftsmanship and dedication to quality art projects are what sets her apart. Keep up the great work Alexandra!
Benjamin Mohr Grade 10
Ben was chosen art artist of the month for October by Mrs. Schaefer. Ben is a very hardworking student who comes up with many creative ideas. He is not afraid of challenging himself by choosing a subject matter to paint that others may consider "too hard" to attempt. His paintings often use a combination of references so he can better express himself! Ben has many other interests and hobbies; he enjoys playing the guitar and piano, as well as being a part of the football and wrestling team at KHS. His goal is to someday be able to play in a band. Congratulations on all of the hard work Ben!
Sarah Richardson Grade 12
Sarah is a member of Mrs. Wise's Senior Art class and has been chosen as an October Student of the Month. Sarah works very hard to do her very best on every piece of work she creates. She puts thought and caring into her work and often chooses meaningful themes that are personal to her. Sarah uses her strong artistic skills to create original pieces of work that are unique and very special.
Sarah is involved in Cross Country, Track, and CYO Basketball and she plans to attend the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities to study International Business Marketing. We would like to congratulate Sarah on her wonderful work in the KHS Art Department! Keep up the great work, Sarah.

Brooke Van Hoof Grade 11
Brooke is a very talented young artist who takes pride in her artwork. Brooke's work ethic and dedication to her ceramic projects have earned her Artist of the Month by Mr. Greeninger.
Brooke enjoys many water sports, spending time with her friends, painting, and all art related hobbies. Brooke is actively involved in the Kimberly High School Dance Team. Brooke has also been asked to create some ceramic bowls for a local church which she is currently doing on her free time. This just shows what type of person Brooke is and the entire Art Department is proud to have Brooke represent the Artist of the month for September. Keep up the great work! Amber DeValk Grade 12
Amber is a very talented artist who is currently in the oil painting class, as well as the senior art class. She has earned artist of the month for September for being such a dedicated student in both of Mrs. Schaefer's art classes. Over her years at KHS she has taken many art classes, and amazes her art instructors with each project she completes! She takes great pride in her work, uses her time extremely well in class, and chooses ideas that challenge her with each project she completes. Amber works hard in all of her classes, and is also on the KHS tennis team, enjoys volunteering, and photography. Amber hopes to attend college to obtain a degree in either English (writing), art, photography, or psychology. We know she will succeed in whichever endeavor she chooses! Emilee Eisner Grade 12
Emilee has innate artistic abilities that shine though in everything she creates. She is not afraid to experiment with new materials or mix media. Emilee always finds ways to create pieces that show her inner personality. She has created some very unique pieces that showcase both her creativity and technical skills in a variety of media.
Emilee's interests and hobbies include playing piano, photography, watching good movies, exploring, learning about new things, and staying up late and drinking tea. She hopes to learn as much as she can about art to help her become an even stronger artist.
