Every month, each instructor chooses one art student to be showcased on this website. These artists have displayed dedication and determination on their recent works of art, and should be commended on their efforts!

Greg DeWitt Grade 9
Greg was chosen as March artist of the month in his 2D art class by Mrs. Schaefer. Greg has proven to be a dedicated art student, and spends a lot of his time outside of class in the art room, or creating art at home. It is clear to see that art is what gets Greg excited! He puts a lot of time into his planning and ideas for his paintings and drawings. He strives to make original artwork either from his own photos, or by combining images! Way to go Greg, this is not easy! Greg also has a great positive attitude and is helpful and kind to his peers! Greg's personal interests are video games, playing the guitar and ukulele, hanging with his friends, and of course, creating artwork!! Way to go Greg! We're proud of you, and excited to have you in the art department for the next three years! :
Sophie Greve Grade 11
Sophie completed an Independent Study in Art with Mrs. Wise this past term. She also studied A.P. Art History this year.
She has been chosen as a March Artist of the Month because of her dedication to developing herself as an artist. Art has always been important to Sophie and it has grown throughout her high school years. She now hopes to have a future career in Illustration. Art is one of the only things Sophie sees herself doing in the future. Although 2D is her main focus, Sophie also enjoys working with ceramics and fibers and she has a deep love for Art History.
Outside of school, Sophie enjoys reading and writing, spending time with her church youth group, and recently, she competed at the State level in curling!
The KHS Art Department would like to congratulate Sophie on her wonderful accomplishments in Art!
FEBRUARY ARTISTS
Kirsten Smith Grade 12
Kirsten is a member of Mrs. Schaefer's Oil Painting Class. Kirsten has shown a true talent as an artist in both art classes she has had this year. She has a natural ability to really see values and shadows within her drawing and paintings, and is very talented at capturing the sense of light. She's a hard working student in class, and works to make her paintings something she is very proud of. She works outside of school, and doesn't have a lot of free time! However, when she does, she loves to cook, be outdoors, and loves spending time with her family and friends. Great work Kirsten, we're all very proud of you!
Alyssa del Plaine Grade 12
Alyssa is a member of Mr. Greeninger's 3D Art class. Alyssa has been going above the call of duty and putting in extra time before and after school with her ceramic tea pot. Pictured below is her tea pot in progress. Alyssa is turning her tea pot into an octopus. The art department is very proud of her work ethic and creative ideas in the ceramic unit of her 3D Art course.
Not only is Alyssa doing well in her art class, Alyssa is part of National Honors Society, HOSA, and Life Force at KHS. Alyssa also volunteers at the Harbor House and has plans of going to UW-River Falls next year to study psychology. The Art Department wants to wish Alyssa best of luck next year and give her a big thank you for doing an outstanding job on Art projects her senior year!
Brooke Mahoney Grade 11
Brooke is currently a member of Mrs. Wise's Intro to Art class She has been very involved in the Art Club throughout her time at KHS and she is a member of our new Comics at KHS club, as well as Anime' Club.
She loves creating art in a variety of mediums and she is always willing to dedicate the time and energy necessary for making successful pieces of art, Whether it is doodling in her notebook or molding clay, Brooke enjoys it all! She has a wonderful quirky, creative style and always finds interesting themes to base her work on.
Besides Art, Brooke's interests include playing video games (Portal and Legend of Zelda), writing stories, playing the piano, and writing her own piano compositions. Brooke's personal goals are to "be her best self in everything she does and to love those around her." These are wonderful goals for all of us!

JANUARY ARTISTS
Savanna Mueller Grade 12
Savanna has been nominated as Mr. Greeninger's Artist of the month for January. Savanna is currently in 3D Art class and currently working on her Tea Pot project where she is detailing trees and leaves. Savanna is one of the art students who takes pride in her work and goes above what is expected on the project. The KHS Art Department is happy to have Savanna take an art class her senior year and produce such quality work.
Savanna is a great kid and is a volunteer at Woodland Intermediate school in the Special Education room. Savanna would like to attend college next year and major in Elementary Education or Spanish. However, next year Savanna will spend 9 month at an orphanage in Mexico. The Art Department would like to thank Savanna for doing an outstanding job with all her art projects that have been created up to this point!
Jasmine Graham Grade 12
Jasmine was selected by Mrs. Schaefer as artist of the month in her Oil Painting class. Jasmine had Mrs. Schaefer last year in 2D art and over the course of the last year she has grown significantly as an art student. Jasmine works very hard on her pieces outside of class, and is very motivated to continue growing her skills. She is not afraid to ask for feedback to continue improving and is well aware that the only way to get better is to make mistakes and seek constructive feedback from instructors and peers. Jasmine also makes her artwork very personal and often times works from her own photographs. She is a very hard working, kind-hearted, respectful and awesome student!
Jasmine loves basketball, painting and drawing, watching Netflix, and listening to music. Someday she hopes to work for Disney or Pixar!

JANUARY ARTISTS
Kai Devyne Grade 10
Kai was a member of Mrs. Wise's Intro to Art class during first semester and she is currently taking 3D Art. She is a very talented artist who enjoys a wide range of art styles and mediums. She simply loves creating things- whether in visual mediums, such as clay, paint, Photoshop,etc. or with music, where she likes to write and perform her own songs or with words, where she enjoys writing her own stories and poems.
Kai has a wonderful "Can Do" attitude and she is very willing to challenge herself with the projects she creates. She is a very positive, kind person and joy to have in our classes.
Kai plans to attend college after graduation where she would like to study movie animation and/or editing or film. Her goals for herself, as a person are "to laugh and make memories, to help those who are alone and make people smile, and to remind herself that she is blessed and there is a reason for everything she goes through."

DECEMBER ARTISTS
Madison Dollevoet Grade 12
Madison was a member of Mrs. Wise's Senior Art class during first semester and she has done a wonderful job of expressing herself through her artwork.
She often chooses personal themes for the pieces she creates and always challenges herself to work at a high level in whatever medium she is working in.
Madi's passion for creating art shows in her dedication and hard work. She is focused and does her very best in all that she does in her art classes. Below, are a white charcoal drawing and an acrylic painting created by Madi.
Madison's interests include creating Art, spending time with her family, and hanging out with her friends. She loves to help others and would like to
someday become an Art Therapist and use Art as a means to help people overcome personal obstacles .

Angela Douglas
Angela was selected as artist of the month by Mrs. Schaefer for Senior Art. Angela has been an art student for all of her high school career, and now in her senior year is spending a significant amount of time in the art department with three art classes! Angela works very hard to be sure that she is happy with her final pieces, and is also sure to work hard outside of class to make her pieces the best they can be. Angela does an EXCELLENT job seeking feedback from her peers as well as her instructors to be continually improving. This shows her level of maturity and desire to get better and better. She is not afraid to hear constructive criticism and knows that this is the only way we all improve over time.
Angela has come a long way over the last few years, and is such a well deserving student of this honor! Angela loves to spend time in the art department, as well as creating art at home. Some of her other hobbies include camping, shopping playing her PS4, spending time with family and her best friend Madi. After high school, her goal is to graduate college and have a happy family and continue making art throughout her life. Congrats Angela, we're proud of you!
NOVEMBER ARTISTS
Lauren Johnson Grade 9
Lauren is an art student of Mr. Greeninger's 3D Art class this first semester. Lauren was chosen as November's Artist of the month for her highly creative ideas and very strong work ethic. Lauren is only a freshman but has the work ethic of a senior. Lauren is the student who will put time into her projects outside of the her class period as well as outside the school day. There has been times Lauren has been in the art room past 4 pm. Lauren has a passion for art and wants every piece to be outstanding.
Below you will see one of Lauren's projects see did for her ceramic unit in 3D Art. Lauren selected the theme of Lord of the Rings and created a Tea Pot along with 4 mugs to go with this set. Pictured below is just on of the 4 mugs she created. Other interests of Lauren's include cooking and baking. Lauren is also involved at KHS with the Yearbook Club. The Art department is very proud of Lauren and the work she has been creating. Keep up the great work Lauren!
David J. Ante (DJ) Grade 12
DJ is a member of Mrs. Wise's Senior Art class this term.
His teacher chose him as a November Artist of the Month because of how dedicated DJ is to creating very technically sound artwork. He has high standards and is always willing to put in the extra time and effort needed to achieve his goals. DJ is motivated and has a great "can do" attitude about tackling challenging projects. He is a very strong art student for this reason.
DJ's interests include running, participating in track and field, and creating Art. His goal is to attend an Art school after graduation from KHS. He would like to someday use his art skills to create airbrush artwork on cars and to work as a professional tattoo artist.

OCTOBER ARTISTS
Kailyn Fries Grade 12
Kailyn has been picked as an artist of the month for October by Mr. Greeninger. Kailyn currently has Ceramics and has pushed her creative skills on her first two projects. Currently Kailyn has just completed her lion pitcher which is an outstanding piece and can be viewed below.
Kailyn's interest includes all areas of Art, her love for film and spending time with her friends. Another positive quality Kailyn has is her contribution of volunteering in her community. Her time management is outstanding along with her artistic ability. Kailyn is one of those artists that will put in extra time when needed to complete her art project with quality craftsmanship!
The Art Department loves to congratulate Kailyn and hopes she will continue to create great art throughout the rest of the semester
Syd Simonis Grade 11
Syd is a member of Mrs. Wise's A.P. Art History class this term.
She has been chosen as an October Artist of the Month because of how hard she works to improve her drawing skills, both in school and outside of school. Syd creates on a regular basis, drawing from both live models and various comic styles. She fills sketchbooks with impressive drawings and has attended Art Camp at UWGB to help her build her skills.
In A.P. Art History, Syd is completely dedicated to learning about and fully understanding our world's artwork through the ages.
Her passion and academic abilities are to be commended!
Syd's interests include drawing, reading, knitting, and playing video games. She is the Vice-President of the KHS Art Club, the President of the KHS Anime' Club, and she is a member of the school band. She is currently forming a new KHS organization called "Comics at KHS" and student interest is strong. Syd plans to study Art in college and she is currently looking at UW- Stout's Entertainment Design Program (Comics and Sequential Art).

Julia Eichsteadt Grade 11
Julia has been picked as an artist of the mount for October by Mrs. Balthazor. Julia has a passion for drawing which can been developed through the many drawings she has created in her sketchbook. She had taken a variety of art classes at KHS, including 3D and currently 2D Art.
She is kindhearted and offers encouragement to her fellow classmates, sharing her suggestions, backed up with knowledge of the principles of art. In her free time she also enjoys writing and reading. She hopes to pursue a career in the art field as a tattoo artist.
We look forward to seeing Julia develop as an artist and encourage her to keep sharing her love of the arts.
