After the Behavior plan is created, and materials and data collection methods have been established the proposed interventions in the Behavior Intervention Plan must be tested and refined based on collected data. In this step, the behavior plan may be simplified after a student has met one or more of their behavior objectives. The goal is to have a plan that can be fully implemented by school site staff, after training with school site staff has been conducted.
The first step in this process must be to ensure that the plan is implemented with fidelity in the classroom. Implementation and student performance data must be taken simultaneously.
To ensure a high degree in the initial implementation a member of the Behavior Intervention team may be selected to test the interventions in the classroom with the students. If that is not possible or practical a member of the team will work with one person initially that will be able to implement the plan with fidelity to test the plan’s effectiveness.
The following tools will be used during this stage to collect data on the effectiveness and implementation of the BIP.
