Week of 4/7

Post date: Apr 07, 2014 7:45:18 PM

I hope everyone had a great Spring Break! We have about 9 weeks of school left...Oh my!

I have emailed Mr. Meyer and a couple other staff to find out about of dates for 2nd Grade MAP testing. Please keep watch for that information, because I haven't heard back about that yet. I will send an email, post it here and on the calendar as soon as I find out. PLEASE send those postcards to school now if you haven't already.

We are starting Unit 10 in Math. This unit revisits money: counting in higher amounts, estimating, and using a calculator. We are also learning about larger numbers - into the ten-thousands place. The last lesson is a favorite...using parentheses in number models. 2nd graders feel so grown-up when they can do that.

In writing we are starting our final unit on Persuasive Letters. The children will be writing someone a letter to persuade or change their mind about something. It is always interesting to see who they write to and what they want. Don't be surprised if it is you and they are asking for a "dream vacation."

We will also finish up our learning on Exploring Non-fiction in reading class.

Have a great week. It looks like a good one!
