Update for September 16

Post date: Sep 16, 2016 7:19:25 PM

We have had a great Friday! The children were such hard workers, especially in the morning. Today was also our first Payday, so they were very excited and interested about that.

Next week, we will continue working on our reading stamina. We are able to sustain our independent reading for about 10-12 minutes consistently. Our goal is 20 minutes. We started reading with partners today and we will continue to practice/reinforce that. Next week we will introduce our rotations chart. This is where they get to pick whether they want to read with a partner in the first rotation or second. We have been investigating non-fiction text, which will also continue. We will also learn about retelling or recounting a story. In writing, we will continue with narratives and learning about the writing process.

In Math next week, we will be learning to add with 10s, along with the doubles and the near doubles facts. Later in the week, we will explore numbers that go together to make 10. Please practice those addition facts at home. The children can show you how we practice at school.

Communications Sheets should be going back and forth to school in their Take Home folders. We add homework to it daily, just like the older kids.

Remember Picture Day is Monday and the Mile Run is Thursday (with make-ups on Friday.)

Thanks and have a great week.
