In our last tutorial, we learned how to create and locate a file in our Documents area. Once wyou get a large number of files, it becomes important to organize them into groups or folders. In the last tutorial, we created two folders. We will now download a bunch of sample files and use our folders to organize them.
Click here to access the Sample Files for this tutorial. Follow the instructions on the screen to download each file.
Often we need to move files from one folder into another. There are a number of ways to do this, here is one simple way:
Open the folder with the files you wish to move:
Click Start
Click My Documents or Documents
<Double-Click> Folder 1
Make sure the Window is not maximized
Open a second window with the folder where you wish to move these files to:
Click Start
Click My Documents or Documents
<Double-Click> Folder 2
Make sure the Window is not maximized
Position the windows so you can see both of the folders
Try the following:
Move a file by dragging it from Folder 1 to Folder 2
Use your clipboard to copy a file from Folder 1 to Folder 2
Drag a file from Folder 1 to the Desktop to temporarily store it, then drag it from the Desktop to Folder 2
Select a file by clicking it, then use <Shift-Click> to select a group of files. Drag them from Folder 1 to Folder 2.
Click to select a file, and then use <Ctrl-Click> to pick additional files. Drag them between Folders.

When dragging files between folders on the same drive, windows will move the file. When dragging files between folders on different drives, Windows will copy the file.
When you use a USB Drive, it appears as a new drive on your computer.
Insert the USB Drive
If you get a pop-up window, choose View Folders.
Otherwise, click Start, My Computer (Computer in Windows7). The USB will show up as the next free Drive letter (e.g. E:\) - Double-click the USB Drive to open it.
Make sure the window is not maximized.
Use the steps below to copy a file from your computer drive to the USB drive.
Open a second window showing the files you wish to copy.
Drag files between the windows to Copy them
The USB can then be inserted into another computer and the file copied from the USB to that computer in the same way.
