Create your first Google Site
Get an understanding of what Google Sites can do
Once you have a valid Google Account, you are ready to create your first Google Site. Go to sites.google.com in an Internet Browser (Internet Explorer) and follow these detailed instructions from Google Sites Help:
Click the Create site button.
Enter your site name and the URL where it will be located (for example, sites.google.com/site/yoursite) as well as an optional description of the site. The name and URL you choose can't be changed after you create your site, or used again if the site is deleted.
Select the appropriate checkbox if your site contains mature material.
Select one of these sharing options: 'Everyone in the world can view this site' or 'Only people I specify can view this site.'
Pick a theme for your site.
Enter the wavy characters in the word verification section, and click the Create site button
If you get an error creating the site, check the site URL. If it is already taken, the system will suggest some alternatives. Also, if you did not correctly type the word verification in step 6, you will be prompted with a new word to type.
Once your site has been created, it's easy to change how it looks by clicking on the More Actions button and selecting Manage Site. Here are some of the things you can do:
Change the Site Name using the General entry in the Site Settings section.
Change the Theme using the Themes entry in the Site Appearance section.
Change the colors using the Colors and Fonts in the Site Appearance section.
