Do not write just “G” or “Glossary.”

quotation, quote

Not literary terms. Both words are used by editors, teachers and students in the context of editing. In place of “quotation,” use words like “speech,” “statement,” “lines,” and “discussion (of).” The following sentence gives the impression that Macbeth is quoting someone:

WRONG: In his quotation about time, Macbeth expresses despair.

RIGHT: In his meditation about time, Macbeth expresses despair.

In formal usage, “quote” is usually a verb, not a noun.
