This assignment must be an ORIGINAL PIECE OF STUDENT WRITING. No use of generative AI is allowed. If you write your response and then use something like Grammarly, you must turn in the original with the edited version. If there is any suspicion that you did not write the assignment, the burden of proof is on you. You will receive no credit if you can't prove it's your original work.
For this assignment, students will read an article in which an author presents an argument against the SparkNotes modernization of Shakespeare's works (known as "No Fear Shakespeare").
Students will then write a paper (using MLA format) in which they critique the argument presented in the article based on the author's use (and establishment) of ethos, pathos, and logos.
The length requirement for this assignment is at least 750 words.Â
The paper students write should answer this question: Did Rikita Tyson effectively use ethos, pathos, and logos to create an effective argument?
The paper should be constructed as a multi-paragraph essay organized as follows:
Paragraph 1: A satisfactory introduction to the student's writing and its general topic and points.
Body Paragraphs: The student's critique of the use of pathos, ethos, and logos in the argument in question.
Final Paragraph: A conclusion in which the student evaluates whether or not the argument in question was successfully persuasive.
