This assignment must be an ORIGINAL PIECE OF STUDENT WRITING. No use of generative AI is allowed. If you write your response and then use something like Grammarly, you must turn in the original with the edited version. If there is any suspicion that you did not write the assignment, the burden of proof is on you. You will receive no credit if you can't prove it's your original work.
To begin, read these two articles:
“Macbeth's Myriad of Misfortunes”
and
“Curse of Macbeth? Actor Taken to Hospital after Branagh Battle”
Your assignment is to produce a one-page summary of the theatrical superstition surrounding the play by answering the question What is the curse of Macbeth? Your assignment must have these parts:
You must provide a paraphrase from each of the articles. Highlight each paraphrase in green. Correctly cite the paraphrase in the text. Highlight each citation in blue. Provide commentary on the paraphrase before continuing (explain the significance of the evidence given and how it relates to the topic).
You must provide a direct quotation from one of the articles. Do not let the quote stand alone as a sentence. Properly integrate the quote into your writing and cite it in the text. Highlight the quotation in yellow and the citation in blue. Provide commentary on the paraphrase before continuing (explain the significance of the evidence given and how it relates to the topic).
Your paper must be written in proper MLA format.
You must have a Works Cited page that contains properly formatted citations for both articles. You may use the Google Docs citation tool (click here for instructions on that) or an online resource, but remember that these are not infallible. Check your citations using a reputable source such as the Hoover High School Library’s web page or the Purdue OWL.
Grading for the assignment is as follows:
Content of your summary: 10 points
Two Paraphrases: 20 points
One quotation: 10 points
Proper internal citations: 5 points
MLA Format and Works Cited page: 5 points
Total: 50 points
